It's a really old book (copyright 1972) but I used "Potty Training in less than a day." It has a lot of great basic tips and it worked (although it took about 3 days for us- no complaints!). Good luck!
I have 18 month old boy/girl twins and I know they are not ready to potty train yet. But, as a first time mom, I have no idea what to look for as far as signs that they are ready. So, I was wanting to read some books now to prepare myself as we start this adventure over the next year. Are there any books that you just loved or were very helpful to you? I've seen Idiot's guide to potty training and others like it, but I'd like to go with something that other people have had success with. Thanks!

Good luck! That was my 'least favorite phase' with both my kids, so just brace yourself. You are way ahead of the curve if you are thinking about books already. What I did is take a trip to the library and check out a couple at the time, but I don't remember the names... very practical info though, and blank 'sticker charts' that you could photocopy, which I used for both kids and ended up creating my own charts to post in the bathroom. The book I flipped through had sections like 'how to know when your child is ready', 'how to know when it might be time to take a break' which were extremely helpful to me in the process.
What I wanted to suggest too, is books for your children. That will get them in the spirit and there are sooo many good ones, from Sesame Street to more 'anatomically correct' ones like Once Upon a Potty (there is a boy and girl version) and Everybody Poops. :-) Best wishes! You are on the right track.
I really liked "Potty Training without Tears" by Schaeffer (sp?) because it goes through all the different methods and the pros and cons. I believe it's out of print but you can still find it (try the library). Good luck with your little ones.
I liked the Idiot's Guide to Potty Training. It's one that I refer back to time and again ever since I started potty training my daughter. Good luck!!
