Where do you go to find the best deals? Do you use hotels.com, expedia or do you find booking direct with the hotel is the cheapest option?

I have always found that if I research what price I can get the hotel for online, I have AAA and then call the hotel, many times I can get a better rate through the hotel. I do book through Wyndham Rewards a lot as they are always offering specials ~ I just receive $60 in Visa cards from them for a promotion they were doing. Plus after so many points we get a free night!

I book all the travel for our company and I never, ever use discounters. If you do, you are the first to get bumped if they need to bump someone. Your deal may seem great at first but you may be end up staying where you thought you would.

Prime example... we use the Hilton family of hotels and we are Diamond members. About a month ago, I needed to stay at a specific hotel that was booked up, thanks to my diamond number, I got a room and someone who booked on a discounter was moved to a different hotel. I know that sounds bad but it is how it works. Same policy applies with the airlines.

Your best bet is to work directly with the hotel website and call the specific hotel directly. Ask for the deals, they often have them available and ask for the rack rate.

You come out better working with the front desk at the hotel. My husband is in Houston monthly at least twice and I ended up with a corporate rate of $89 on a $200 room. Before I got the corp rate, they just wanted to match the price of a competitor.

Good luck

I posted the same thing last month and got lots of great responses!

I did not, however, end up using any of them ;) Having previously worked for a hotel chain, you can haggle the price of any room in person at the desk. If you know where you're staying, map out a few hotels in the area, and ask the front desk for their best pricing (they're competitive too, so if Hotel A offers your $89 a night, tell Hotel B to beat the price!)

Good luck :)

I've had good luck bidding on priceline but you don't know what hotel you will get until you book and pay. It will tell you if it's a 3 star, 4 star, etc. in a certain area of town and amenities like pool and weight room but you won't know for sure until you are done.

We always book through Hotels.Com they are pretty cheap (for where we go) and have great service. And they have the stay 10 nights and get some free thing which is cool.

We find the hotel we want on the website and the price then I call the hotel to ask if they can give it to us any cheaper. Usually works. I saw the hotel I wanted was $120 a night, and I called and got it for $79 and it was a 4 star hotel. Pretty good deal.

Good luck and have fun!

I usually use the hotel number. I try to get the local number not the 800 number. If you stay at a hotel chain more than once and like their service you can join their emails or website and get specials. Once you do this you get better rates. Also since I work for the state I get a government rate which gets me more room for less.
