I love to read James Patterson. He is the only author that connects to me. Does anyone know of another author that writes like James Patterson?

Check out Harlan Coben (I cannot put his books down -although his Bolitar series isn't my favorite). Jonathan Kellerman and Patricia Cornwell are really good too. You may also like Lee Child. Some do, some don't. I have to be in the mood, but most of his stuff is good.
I have never read James Patterson but a good author you may enjoy is JD Robb with her "In Death" series
We read: Dean Koonz, Stephen King, Sophie Kinsella, Suzanne Collins (Hungar Games) - okay that is all I can think of off the top of my head but just get a library card and start picking up books to try. You will get a TON of responses here about books/reading/authors - good luck sorthing thru them ;)

Check the NYTimes bestseller list. That's a very good place to start for fiction and non-fiction.
I always confuse James Patterson with Nicholas Sparks, and I don't think I'm the only one. Maybe try some Nicholas Sparks?
