Book or Website Recommendations for Toddler Food

My daughter just turned 1 year old, and I'm looking for a book (preferrably a recently published book) on toddler nutrition and meal suggestions.

Many well-meaning people (including my pediatrician) tell me to feed her whatever my husband and I are eating, but just well-cooked, and cut into small pieces. Frankly, I wouldn't wish our diet on anyone, particularly not my own child. We eat mostly take out (not fast food, but still probably heavy on sodium, unhealthy fats, etc).

The ped. suggested this is a great time to improve our diet. Great suggestion...but in case that doesn't happen, I'd like to have a "Mommy-tested" resource book on toddler nutrition. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Susanne,

You are doing a great thing by feeding healthy meals to your baby,I agree with the doc it's a great time for everybody to eat healthier. hubby and I actually started eating better after our daughter was born.
I looked through the internet and I found these two great sites:

http://www.recipezaar.com/browse/top/347

http://www.wholesometoddlerfood.com/toddlerrecipes.htm

the wholesome toddler food website has sample menus for your baby, it is very helpful.
Good luck!

Hi!
My DH and I ate great before our son arrived. Now life is a little more hectic and we often eat after our son goes to bed. Weekends we eat together though. Anyhoo - to your question, I have several books by Annabel Karmel and I have really enjoyed her suggestions. I used them when my son was an infant and made his baby food. Now I get inspiration for toddler meals and the meals are good for us too. Good Luck!

Just keep in mind if you don't change what you eat too your daughter will just want to eat what you are eating, probably even more so, since it is somethng "special" that only Mommy and Daddy get to eat. If there is a special treat you want to eat that you really don't want your daughter to eat, snack on it when she's not around. But she will learn her life long eating habits by watching what you eat - so if you want her to live on fast food, eat the fast food. But if you want her to make healthy eating choices, the only way she will really learn that is by watching you make those choices.

I just bought Deceptively Delicious. You can get it from walmart for $16. It has ideas for pureeing lots of fruits and vegetables and putting it in foods without noticing them.
