my 27 month old is turning blue on her lips feet and hands when she gets a little cool and im trying to get some more testing cus along with the blue problem there is the problem of her not gaining weight as well and was wonder if any one else is going threw this and if so have you found out what this could be? she has had some heart test and are going to have more cus i want a 2 opinion cus all the test done before have come back normal but i know there is something wrong with my little girl. she is very under weight for her age she weights 22 lbs at 27months and think that this blue thing can be linked to her not gaining weight. i hope someone can help me.
i am getting her check tomorrow by another heart doctor, just so i have second suggestion. i thankful to you all for your suggestion. i just hope they find out soon what is going on thank you all
my aunt had blue feet and ended up having a double bipass at 30, b/c her veins were small they were blocked up already. She waited to go in and only asked her gyno as an aside, since she thought she was just cold. I would definately be getting extra opinions.
I don't know about the weight gain, but my 2 girls are the same way as far as getting a little blue when it is cold. It does not happen with my son. They are both free of any other medical conditions that we know of... and both are of normal weight. It happens even on a crisp day after being outside for awhile, so its not like I am talking about being in the snow or anything either. I would get her checked still, but don't panic about the coloring as long as it is only happening when she is cold.
The underweight thing is not a big deal. My youngest daughter was always underweight. She is 22 years old and just fine. But the turning blue thing is a sign of poor circulation. Also it could be a lack of oxygen. Are you taking her to a specialist or a regular doctor?
have they checked her heart? My friends is going through this with her son, who is 1 1/2. Good luck and my prayers go out to you that everything is okay.
MY adult daughter has a condition called Raynauds Disease, if you google it you can find some good information on it. Basically, her hands and now her feet react poorly to being cold. They don't turn blue, they turn white, pastey white...and they tingle and hurt, like they would if they were asleep. I have carpal tunnel syndrome, which effects parts of the hand, and I have often wondered if there is a connection to the two since they both seem to involve circulation to the extremities. Has your physician actually been able to observe your daughter when she is reacting like this? I would think that would be very helpful,so that he/she would know exactly what you are referring to. As far as the weight gain, if she is eating well, and is other wise healthy and happy, maybe you just have a slender, petite little girl on your hands!!!
Assuming her oxygen is fine, has anyone mentioned Raynaud's Syndrome? I don't believe it is very common in young children, though in itself, not a real problem. It can appear alone with no other illness, or it can be secondary to a more serious illness. Not something to worry over, but maybe to mention to a doc if they have not already mentioned to you.

Hi, It sounds like a thyroid issue. My daughter would get cold very easily no matter the temperature and her lips would turn blue. The doctor can do a blood draw to determine the levels and see if the thyroid is functioning properly. As soon as I mentioned the blue lips to my doctor thyroid was one of the first things considered. Seeing as your little one also has problem definitely look in to it. Since you are getting her heart checked, that is a good 1st start step. sk them to do a full CBC & check her thyroid levels too. It may just be Rayhauds (syndrome or disease... they are different). I have it & it is commen on women (not sure about babies?). As far as size My son is 32 months & 24 lbs. As long as they are growing & on a steady curve- there is no need to worry. Size also depends on birth weight & you/hubbies size as toddlers (not as adults)... Good Luck!
