My one year old acts fine, seems fine, and has just gotten over a few days of fever-with-no-symptoms. I just noticed, as I was cleaning his nose, that his bogeys are brown --- like dried-up blood. He doesn't seem congested and his nose is not runny. It's not really a nosebleed, I don't think. Any thoughts?
could be his nose is dry from dry air. Try a humidifier in his room. It isn't anything to worry about.
My 3-year-old son has had bloody boogies off and on for a few months now. He has actually had two nose-bleeds during the night. Our pediatrician said its nothing to worry about, its just the dry air and the seasons changing. HTH.
It probably WAS a minor nosebleed during a minor cold. The blood vessels in the nose are very fragile in a young child, but they heal up quickly at that age too. Infections/nose blowing make the blood vessels a bit more fragile, so this is normal.
Probably just from the dry air.
my thought is that the air in your house is likely dry. I know that is the difference in my own boogers.
run a cool mist humidifier, and you should notice the difference!

Run a cool mist humidifier in his room at night. His nose is most likely just dry.
I would say it may be allergies. Or if the air in the house or daycare is dry. Dry air can be simply remedied with a humidifier in the house. Allergies require a visit to your pediatrician. They can prescribe something like zyrtec or allegra. Simple fix. Another at home fix is saline drops. They can be bought over the counter, Little Noses is a name brand, a few drops a few times a day can help to hydrate the nose.
my three year old and i have both had slightly bloody, runny noses lately - and one of the girls at work told me her daughter had a bloody nose last night too. i personally think it's something in the air, allergies from pollen or something. nothing to worry about normally. his nose could have been dry because of the fever, which could cause a bit of bleeding. especially if it's dried and not still bleeding, don't worry about it.
Dry air, air conditioning, some children pick their noses also it may be an allergy ... I would keep an eye on it just to be sure but I think most children have them from time to time.
