So What Happened?

First off I want to thank Beth, Lynn and Valerie for all of the helpful advice they sent my way. It was very helpful and I appreciate the feedback. I took my daughters in for their yearly ck-up and discussed the eye blinking with the pediatrician and he informed me that it was a tic that would most likely go away within the next few months to a year and that alot of children go through this. I asked him if he thought it was tourettes syndrome and he said no that if it were that she would have other kinds of tics along with the eye blinking. I did although have her vision checked while at the doctors office and her vision is 20/50 and will be taking her to an optometrist. I have to say that since visiting the doctor she has been blinking less. I think not knowing why she was blinking so much made her think about it more but now she knows that it should go away it has released some stress off her mind. Thanks again for all of the feedback!

Did you know that in general, females blink twice as much as males? Perhaps that is it... or might be allergies... dry eyes.

I highly recommend my families optometrist (we use to date), Dr. Steven Bresnahan. One of his offices is located at the Parks Mall in Arlington, right next door to Eye Masters. Tell him L. sent ya! :)

I did that when I was a kid and shortly after that I got glasses. And my blinking stopped.

I was about that age when my Mom noticed I was blinking alot. The doctor said I had allergies. The eye drops he gave me burned my eyes very badly so I quit taking them. I've been checked by a neurologist as an adult. I was told that everything was fine. I'm 41 years old and still blink alot especially when I'm tired. My Dad does it too. I'm sure if it is allergies there is much more advanced medication out there. Honestly I believe it's a tick.

My daughter had an episode if you want to call it that.It was about about two years ago when she was 7yrs old I think. She would actually roll her eyes upward and at times blink real intentional like,a pronounced thing.I asked our pediatrician about it and he just said it was a tic. I took her to get her eyes tested and she had perfect vision. The doctor told me there are many children who have trouble controlling their eye muscles. There are actually cetain optometrist who specialize in these eye exersises to address this problem.
I didn't feel inclined to go down that road. However, you could do some google searches regarding vision or eye control issues in children and most likely get alot of info. I did at one time look into all that.
I just stopped bringing attention to it and it eventually went away. However, my daughter still has many other tics that can be irritating from time to time. Such as clearing her throat alot, making other certain noises with her mouth in a repetitve way.I've since heard about touretts syndrom and thougt she might have that as that accounts for the tics. You can also google that and get alot of info. It sounds scarier then it is.I don't know if this applys to your situaion but thought I'd try to help. B.
