I was still bleeding at 6 weeks like it was the first or second day of my period. My obgyn gave me some meds to stop it.

This might sound crazy but take a pregnancy test. I bled for long time. Turns out there was a small piece of placenta left behind.

While this forum is a great place to compare experiences, most of us here aren't doctors. It's time to schedule an appointment with yours. Listen to Diane B. below. She's talking sense.

It sounds to me like you're doing too much, getting up too much, lifting heavier than your baby. You need to be going to the doctor. It's not a good idea to be waiting so long and just let this go on and on.

Get the doctor appointment and don't look for answers online.

Talk to your doctor. It could be nothing but it could be something that needs to be addressed by the doctor. With my third my period came back right away and it seemed like I never stopped bleeding for a while. I was doing everything the same as with my other 2 as far as exclusively breastfeeding on demand with no supplementation or pacifiers. With them it took a good 6 months for my period to come back. My body changed and did things differently. Best thing to do it talk to your doctor and see what they say.

I was told with each of my deliveries that anywhere up to six weeks was typical. After 8 and you should just go in and be checked.
If you have gone on birth control or an IUD as mynewnickname mentions below, that can cause bleeding but this is not typically a concern. Good luck :)

After my first, it was 8-10 weeks for me (very light after 8 weeks). After my second it was even longer but that was probably caused by my mirena, which I had put in at 6 weeks. What are you using for birth control?

Yes, with my first. With my next two kids I realized that it's vital to not do too much in the first few weeks.

Talk to your doctor, but meanwhile, cut back on physical activity. No heavy lifting, no long walks, have hubby vacuum, etc.

Had the same thing. Still bleeding at my 6 week checkup and still bled a week or 2 longer after that I remember reading it should end before that and doc even said oh your breastfeeding it will stop sooner yeah right!:). Everyone is different some stop right away some are like us don't worry it will stop soon

wouldn't your DOCTOR be a better person to ask than strangers on the internet?
