Hi, for the last two weeks, my upper lip has a split wound that bleeds almost all the time. People do notice that, they keep telling me hey ur lip is bleeding, there is blood on your teeth. I already put on lip balm and honey, for a while it helps, but soon it bleeds again. I don't smoke or drink. I also don't have the cancer history in my family. I never touch my lips or lick it with tongue and I drink a lottt. I just quite amazed because just now, the blood dripped on my tablet screen. WT?!!! Is it common here, because of the winter? I also has this bleeding issue 3 years ago when I was in Indonesia, went to doctor but then it stopped so I ignored his advice on seeing a specialist. I regret it now. The medical check here is so expensive. So what should I do now? Thanks

What can I do next?

My daughter has SEVERELY dry lips and we've found over the years that the ONLY thing that keeps them under control is lanolin (if you've ever breastfed you know what miracles lanolin performs!). She applies it every night before bed and once in the morning, and that is usually sufficient. THE BEST method (cures dry lips overnight) is to apply the lanolin immediately after getting out of the shower (or 2nd best, applying after brushing teeth) when the lips are most hydrated. When she does this, her lips are simply BEAUTIFUL the next morning, even if they were completely dry and cracking the night before! Hope this helps!

This happens to me sometimes, when the weather is particularly dry (but I have very dry skin, anyway). Lip balms, for me, aren't thick enough to use by themselves. Vaseline works better, but lanolin is best. Put it on thick before you go to bed, and you can use the thinner lip balms during the day.

Drink lots of straight up water. Then keep something on them all the time. If it continues make sure to at least call the docs office. They may call something in or at least have some suggestions.

Lanolin works well, but our favorite by far is Aquaphor. It comes in several different forms, but the most convenient is the small tube for your lips. You can also use it from the big jar.

My daughter had problems with her lips for about a year. Within a few days of keeping Aquaphor on it, they cleared right up.

Keep applying an emollient several times/day. Some lip balms are better at keeping the lips moist than others. I've not had difficulty with dry lips and so can't recommend one. Hopefully someone else can make a recommendation.

I have heard that Vaseline works well for this. You do have to apply it several times during the day.
