Ladies, has this happened to you? I am 31 with irregular periods, but now I bleeded between the periods. It happened 2 weeks after my last period, so I guess I could be just on my fertile phase. I admit I am a little worried and will go for check up. But until then, I would like to know if this ever happened to you. I know I have pcos (polychistic ovaries) and have been prescribed birth control pill which I refused to take due to weight issues&depression. I had a smear pap test about a year ago and it turned ok. Along with bleeding(slight) I have also cramps. I would really need your advice. I tend to panic quickly and this slight bleeding has been for a week now. Thank you

What can I do next?

It could be so many things - most pretty trivial - some fairly serious.
A friend of mine started getting longer and heavier periods till it was continuous and she became anemic.
It turned out to be an early sign of breast cancer.
She went through lumpectomy, chemo, radiation and 5 years of chemical menopause (her kind of cancer fed on hormones so they needed to suppress them) - and she is fine today.
Fibroids can cause a lot of bleeding issues.
Really your doctor is your best bet at figuring this out.
If you're not done having kids, having them sooner might be better than waiting till later.
If bleeding becomes a big issue you can try ablation and a hysterectomy will definitely end it.

hello
have you been checked for fibroids? sometimes they are so small and cannot be detected with just applying pressure on the abdomen and therefore they have to perform an ultrasound which can detect size and location. I have fibroids, which at times have caused bleeding in between cycles, additionally, as the fibroids have grown, I do have more cramping..
women, at any age can get fibroids, for many, they don't cause problems nor did they for me when they were smaller, but now, they have proven to be more annoying..
they aren't cancerous, but can cause issues..

I agree with the fibroid being a possibility....... they can cause mid-cycle spotting/bleeding and cramping.

It is best to check with your doctor or ob/gyn about this.

Lots of things could be going on. The most obvious, if you were older, would be the beginning of menopause. Since you're rather young I'd say you need to have a thorough exam by your OB/GYN

Definitely worth contacting your OB/GYN. I let bleeding and cramping between periods go on for a while thinking it was just because my body was a mess in my 40s. Ended up having a polyp and once that was removed, the extra bleeding stopped.

The most common cause of bleeding between periods are fibroid tumors.I would accept that as cause of bleeding until I was given a more serious diagnosis by the doctor. No need to panic. Panicking does not help and makes one scared. Make an appointment.

My periods were always irregular and painful with bleeding that seemed to come between periods. My periods were so irregular there was no way of knowing if it was between or a short cycle. I had endometriosis and took birth control to suppress hormones in the hopes I could become pregnant. By my late 40's I also had medium sized fibroids and had a hysterectomy. I mention this because you said you don't take birth control pills. If your doctor hasn't ruled out endometrics is and you still want a baby, I'd ask about that.

I have dealt with clinical depression and anxiety my whole life. The birth control pills regulated my periods and actually made my moods lighter because I now had regular periods and less pain. There are now pills that will completely stop periods. If that were available in my youth I would've asked about them. If you've tried a bc pill that increased your depression, there may be a different one that won't. My depression was not worse on bc pills.

I do take an anti depressant and an anti anxiety pill. Those also weren't available back then. I'm so glad to have them now.

Go see your gyn. It could be something simple like unbalanced hormones (which I think is probably the answer) or something more serious. Always best to bring it up with my gyn so he/she can look into it.
