Bleeding After D&C

Just wondering how soon after the initial bleeding stops did you start bleeding again. I stopped bleeding about a week after. About 4 days later, I had sex with my husband for the first time, and then exercised for the first time and started bleeding again, but it was brownish. It's off and on heavy. I called the doctor, and a nurse told me it was normal to bleed off and on for a few weeks afterwards. Just wondering what other women have experienced. I'm 2 weeks post op today.

Thanks!

EDIT: I guess I should have mentioned that I had my post-op appointment a week ago, and my doctor told me I was okay to exercise and have sex.

What can I do next?

I bled extremely heavy for the first 4/5 days and then light for another 4 or so. AFter a few weeks had a period, no on and off bleeding between. my doctor also advised to take it easy and no sex for a few weeks.

Here is some information from www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancycomplications/dandc.html

You may have had sex too soon--this says to wait 2 weeks. Have you had your follow up appointment yet?

* Most women can return to normal activities within a few days, and some feel good enough to return to normal non strenuous activity within 24 hours.
* You may experience some painful cramping initially, but this should not last longer than 24 hours.
* Light cramping and bleeding can be expected from a few days to up to 2 weeks. Ibuprofen is usually suggested for treating cramps.
* You should not insert anything into the vaginal area, including douche and sexual intercourse, for at least 2 weeks or until the bleeding stops. (Your health care provider should give you specific instruction for when intercourse can resume.)
* Tampons should not be used until you start your next regular period, which could be anywhere from 2-6 weeks after the D&C procedure.
* It will be unknown when ovulation will return, so once sexual intercourse is allowed, you should use a method of contraception until your health care provider says it is okay to try to get pregnant again.
* Make sure to attend your follow up appointment.

J.:

I wasn't allowed to have sex or work out for 14 days post surgery. It could be you started too much too soon...yes it may have been 11 days out but my OB was adamant 14 days if not longer.

I had a "normal" cycle...i did NOT bleed on and off for weeks...every body is different. Your cycle may be messed up for a few months. However, keep track of it and keep your doctor informed..

good luck!!

after my d&c i was not suppose to have sex for awhile. it seemed like a month or so. idont remember. but that seems odd if you just had "surgery" down there that it would be ok four days later to have sex??? i would ask another doctor. sounds like bad info to me????
