Blanket Hogging?

Kind of a random question, but I wondered how many couples in king-sized beds have issues with blanket hogging? I'm specifically thinking about king-sized beds, because couples in smaller beds can always go up a size on a duvet/blanket if needed. My husband says I always steal the covers (he does his fair share too) and I have an idea for a solution, but wanted to know if this was a common problem. If you've solved the issue yourself, what did you do and how is it working? Thanks in advance!

***What if it WAS possible to get a bigger-than-king duvet?***

What can I do next?

I bought an XL King down comforter on eBay and it's about 14" bigger than a standard King. Totally solved the problem.

I made my own quilt for the bed so I could make it big enough to hit the ground on both sides, ending the blanket battle!

This made me laugh. My hubby and I have a king size bed, and we finally decided to just get separate blankets after he accused me of blanket stealing night after night. Works for us! You can always cuddle under the same blankets for a little while then go your separate ways!

We have had a king size bed for 5 years (together 8 and had a queen before that) and we have used our own blankets I think for the last 3 or 4 years. I like to kick my feet out or both sides of the cover and sleep all sorts of crazy ways, so it is just easier - keeping in mind I take the more comfy covers! lol...but he loves what he uses too.

We don't have that problem. I sleep hot and seldom use a blanket and my wife sleeps cold and I put my blankets on top of her.

We had some friends that had the same problem. He slept warm and she slept cold. They bought an electric blanket with dual controls. They went to bed and she was cold so she turned up her blanket to warm. He was hot and turned his control down to cool. She got colder and turned her side up to hot. He was so warm he got on top of the covers. She was so cold she got up and put extra blanmkets on the bed and turned her controller up to high. He got so hot he went out o sleep on the couch. They had a miserable night. In the morning, when they got up, they found he had the controller for her side of the bed and she had the controller for his side of the bed. When they told us their story, I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair. I LOL it brought tears to my eyes. I'm remembering it now and tears are coming to my eyes.

Good luck to you and yours.

Haha, just yesterday I finally had enough and headed to Walmart to get my own blankie. Every time I get out of bed to use the bathroom or re-settle a kid, I come back to see that my hubby has taken our comforter and done a crocodile death roll with it. I would spend 3-5 minutes trying to pull the covers back from him, but he's a HEAVY sleeper and I would always end up without covers for my feet. I am LOVING my new blankie!!

Each have your own blankets.
My Husband... is the hogger... and so picky about how he sleeps. Drives me nuts.
Thus, have your own blankets.... otherwise it is so irritating and the 'conflict' will never end.

instead of "bigger" blankets, since they do not make larger than a king, buy two smaller duvet/blankets so you each have your own. I know it sounds silly but my hubby and I would squabble something terrible as I need the weight of a blanket year round and he is too hot blooded for something as heavy as I need to sleep with in order to be comfortable.

I would buy one!

I am a blanket hog and then my hubby has a horrible habit of sleeping on top of the blankets so that I feel trapped and unable to move...I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a blanket big enough that we each had some extra slack!

We also have used seperate blankets. It took years for my husband to train himself to not sleep diagonally across the bed, leaving me with a corner and I'm not a small woman!
Unfortunatly, its all a moot point now. Ever since our twin girls started sleeping with us there is NO room and I just cant function on little to no sleep so I end up in the guest room with my own covers anyway. I'm ready for the girls to graduate the big girl beds and get my marriage back! (planning a room redo after tax return to encourage the girls to sleep in their own beds- we never intened for them to be in our bed, but the best laid plans......)

First I want to say thank of the previous responders for their honesty. I always thought my husband and I were odd for having gone this route and worried what others may think if they ever knew. It's nice to know we are not alone. It seems to be the popular solution but my husband and I have also gone to having our own blankets. I am the blanket hog and as Kate J put it I do the death role into them. LOL (perfect expression) It is not my intention to steal all of the blanket, but never the less, my husband always ended up with none. We have had separate blankets for years and all is well.
Good Luck & Thanks!

I put a link below to show the youtube video of it, and also the link to the amazon website where you can buy one. Enjoy!

skip the duvet. layer with coverlets. coverlets are designed the go all the way to the ground on 3 sides. I need my toes tucked in and the sheets/blankets never stayed tucked in. it is a little bulky but with 2 king coverlets (tucked in on the toes and my side) and a pretty duvet (just for show or extra weight) you know where everything is and can sleep.
