P.M.
If not a urologist... then maybe a basic MRI or ultrasound of the bladder should be done. The urine retention this long after a vaginal birth is completely abnormal and I'd be pretty angry with my Dr to not have done more about this issue yet.
I had my 2nd child, 14 hr labor, tore to the 3rd degree, he was stuck at shoulders (if you don't know what that is you are lucky). I delivered the 29th of may, went home w/cath. They removed 2x but still cannot go on my own so now I have this straight cath, which is better than having a bag to carry around. Any advice would be helpful. I am on meds from the doc and was going to try accupuncture today. I did the warm shower, run water, blow bubbles, soak feet..nothing has helped. I completely have the urge just cannot get over that little hump to make it flow...btw, 1st child was 6 hour labor and everyone told me this would be so easy w/second...:( Baby is doing great on the plus side!
HELP!
so I went to the chiropractor and got a much needed adjustment. I was able to go 3 times over night and in the am but then nothing all day. I guess it is a work in progress....

This happened to me as well! Though I was able to go on my own after a week and a half. For a few days they had me clamp the catheter tube so my body could feel what it was like to have a full bladder. Then I would go to the bathroom and sit on the toilet to release the clamp (even though the urine went into the bag). This worked but it did take a few months for me to feel like I was completely emptying my bladder. I would think you are still swollen after such a rough delivery. But it could also be that your body has become used to the catheter and needs to relearn how to go. Good luck!
.
Stand in the shower, have a very warm - not hot - very warm bowl of water and put one of your hands in it and have the bathroom sink running on low and just wait for it.
I am sorry that you are feeling this way.
You should make an appoint with a urogynocologist, which is just what you think it is--gynocologists trained also as urologists. I have some other issues in this area, but I can tell you I saw a ton of gynocologists and urologists over several years and they never found what was wrong with me and I remained in pain. Thenl I saw a urogynocologist, and for them it was (shockingly for me) immediately diagnosed and treated. They are experts in both these disciplines. I don't know where your town is, but you can PM me if you want my doctors' names--they are in Park Ridge affiliated with Lutheran General. Good luck and congratulations!
Smell some spearmint oil! It works!!
I think a urologist would be your best bet. If you don't get the answers that you are seeking, I would try seeing Dr. Sheila Dugan through Rush Medical Center @ 312. ###-###-####. I had major issues with my tailbone after my son was born and after seeing my gynecologist, a neurologist who did a full MRI and my chiropractor, I had no answers and was still in a lot of pain. About two years after my son was born, I found Dr. Dugan who was the only one who could give me any answers. She is a psyiatrist (forgive me for the misspelling) and focuses on women's issues post delivery. I wish I would have known about her much soon. Good luck!
I had 3 c-sections and this was the trick I used. When sitting on the stool have a large glass of water and drink with a straw. This always worked for me. I hope your baby didn't receive and permanent damage. Good Luck
I would see a Urologist for sure. There has to be some procedure they can do or you may have something as a result of your labor sorry but a primary doc or an OBGYN can't get to the end result only a specialist can.
Take Care I don't know how hard it is not to pee but I do know how hard it is to pee too much
