Black Eye & Remaining Symptom

I had a black eye just over 3 weeks ago. All visible bruising is gone (finally!). However, just below my eyelid and my cheek bone area/side of nose seems puffy...just barely visibly under the eye so but I can feel it. Is there anything I can do to help relieve this puffy feeling? It is very uncomfortable (sometimes pulsating feeling).

What can I do next?

could just need more time. if it was a good whack, and it sounds like it was, it might just still be in the healing process.
it's also possibly that you have a little fracture in there. probably not anything that requires any major intervention. have you tried ice packs?
can't hurt to get it checked out, right?

If you've had any trauma with significant bruising and swelling, and you have discomfort after it's healed - go see your doctor. You may have a tiny fracture. Or hurt your sinus cavity (cheek below your eye). I hope not - and don't want to alarm you. But if it is very uncomfortable, get it looked at.

Good luck

It can take a long time for this to completely heal.
For puffiness, keep a cool compress on it as often as you can.
Cool cucumber slices, used cold wet tea bags (squeeze them so they aren't dripping wet), a cool gel pack, etc.

Cold packs help and Omega-3 (fish oils) will help with it. You can take them by mouth or put the oil right around your eye.

Since it was a bad bruise it will just take time to heal.

What does your doctor say?
You know, you don't need to make an appointment to go in and be seen, you can just call and talk to a nurse.
