I had the Bissel Quick Steamer and loved it!
It just recently broke but it was my own fault, however I had it for years.
Has anyone used the bissell carpet cleaning machine, and how did it work? I found one on sale and want opinions before I go out and buy one. Thanks!
Thanks everyone!!! Looks like I'll be getting one, but will have to use my spot cleaner on stairs & upholstery, ha!!

Most carpet cleaners out on the market are fairly good...I've gone through about 4 in 10 years though and here's what I've learned.
1) plastic (clear acrylic) containers on a carpet cleaner SUCK! They break easily and often (I think was a Hoover and we had them replace it 6 times before we gave up)
2) The more brushes you have cleaning the floor the better. I have one that has 4 swirling brushes as opposed to the beater brush (like a vacuum) and I SWEAR it works the best.
3) In all my carpet cleaners I've had NONE of the attachement have worked worth a darn (the exception being the Rug Doctors you rent at the store.
4) Never use the crystal Oxyclean to clean your carpet through the carpet cleaner...the crystals never fully dissolve...if you want to use the Oxyclean use the laundry spot cleaner...works FABULOUS!!!
Basic premise on all the carpet cleaners is you have one container you put clean water into and another that you put cleaning solution in. When you push the button while operating the machine it will spray the carpet with the solution and water and when you let go of the button and pull the machine back it vacuums the water and dirt up into another chamber.
I think the most important thing about these is to try to clean them right afterwards...it's a nasty job but it only gets worse if you let the stagnent water sit in it (believe me I know...my husbands done it) and it tends to permeate the plastic at that point (ugh). The best carpet cleaners will have a heating element in them as well to keep the clean water hot...you want to use hot water when you put it in but it cools really fast and only hot water will really pull the crude out of your carpets. Good luck!
Awesome!!!! We love ours! We have a Bissell Pro heat turbo 2x, we paid I think it was about 250.00 @ Costco and it is AWESOME! We have 3 dogs and they run the fence while people walk up the street so their paws get dirty and muddy on a regular basis and of course we have a house that is full carpet-that basic cream, tanish color that shows dirt and mud and all that stuff. The Bissell cleans it up better than the Rug doctor!! Money well spent!!! If you get one I hope yours works as good as ours! Good luck!
I like mine. We've had it for several years (8 or so) and it still works great.
I have had one for about 9 years and it has worked really well!
I've had one for several years - don't remember the name of the one I have, but you put hot water in it instead of the machine heating it up. I love mine - it has taken out so much stuff that I never thought it would.
Hi Kelly,
If you're talking about the little green machine, we do have one and like it a lot. It is easy to use, and because it's small you don't feel like you have to wait for lots of cleanup jobs to break it out and use it. My strong recommendation is to make sure to drain it completely (including the hose) between uses, otherwise you can get dirty-water smell. But I can recommend it, we use ours often!
we just borrowed my cousins to try.. and loved it.. she bought it at costco.. it heats the water and really cleans well.. we will buy one... the only down side is it takes 2 days for the carpet to dry 100 perccent.. cleantest my carpets have ever been.

I have one and ABSOLUTELY love it! Definately go for it. It does a WONDERFUL job.
I have a Green Machine and Pro-heat 2x, they both work great. Best advice, **DUMP THE DIRTY WATER AFTERWARDS** otherwise you will have leaks, odor, ugh its a mess.
