Do you mean treats for a birthday/class? if so...
I got sick of cupcakes too.....

this year I made chocolate covered strawberries and sent them in...the kids LOVED THEM!
I took "fruit kabobs" to her cheerleading practice as well....they went over awesome!

another thing you can do is pudding, or marshmallows, or a fruit salad or marshmallow salad....anything, but then put them in those 2 oz portion cups that you buy at GFS (with lids) and get the little disposable cocktail forks they sell there too. the kids think its so cool to have their own little mini thing! LOL

I had a mom bring in fresh fruit kabobs and the kids LOVED them. It worked out great because my son and two other kids in the class have food allergies so they got to be included in on the treat as well.

A case of ice cream sundae cups always goes over well. Easy clean up, and it is almost summer.

Our schools do not allow anything that is not sealed from the factory to be brought to school so whatever you bring should be that. Still sealed and straight from the store.

This keeps items from coming to school that have not been cooked in sanitary conditions, even a clean kitchen is not the same standard as a state health inspected factory.

Usually most schools will not let you bring homemade. It's unfortunate but true and I can understand the risks. Kid's food allergies, a "crazy" Mom putting something funky in the treats-you know we all would do that! (ha, ha). Something my daughter who is 9 thinks is totally great to get is donuts-bought from a bakery of course or even the hostess ones. She also had a kid in her class whose relative worked for Sonic and they actually brought icees into the class. You might want to even look at doing ice cream or frozen yogurt or slushy coupons this time of year or bring ice cream sandwiches or creamies. I bet it would be a hit! I know my 9 yr old Olivia would like it! Have fun...

I'm doing a snack mix for my son - goldfish, pretzels, raisins, m&m's, etc. His class is mostly summer birthday's, so they will have quite a few this month and I thought his teacher would appreciate one less day of cupcakes :-) I did verify that homemade treats were ok, but if they're not you could get individual packets of something. I've done cheese and crackers, snack mixes, fruit snacks. If you can bring it in in the middle of the day you could do yogurt cups or fresh fruit. Lots of options!

Does it have to be store bought or can it be homemade?

Most schools require nut and dairy free snacks depending on the class makeup. I would ask the teacher what the guidelines are. Any baked good can be made dairy free and make sure the ingredients or the package does not say anything about nuts. Pretzels always go over well as does fruit. You can make fruit shish-ka-bobs or get pretzels in fun shapes. I would steer clear of anything that has nuts or dairy as a main ingredient.

Consider a non-food "treat" like erasers in cool shapes and/or pencils with great designs (camouflage, animal fur patterns, school colors - there are a ton of choices at any party store or even drugstores). If everyone brings in food for treats, bringing in a funky little gift instead will be a hit. I'm not anti-treat but if every kid in class brings in something to eat on his or her birthday, that's the equivalent of a full month of sweets for a kid if there are 28-30 kids in a class! Why not give them something that lasts longer than the 30 seconds they'll take to eat something and forget it.

I did this once. I bought a huge bag of oranges and cut them all up, I then cut up watermelon and mixed grapes in. I have to say my fresh fruit went faster than any snack that was brought.

we made these for my son's preschool birthday treat (our school doesn't require store bought) and all the kids loved them. We put in small drink umbrella's in them also. Instead of the gum floaty ( no gum allowed in school) we used fruit by the foot and cut it into pieces. I was able to find blue frosting so I didn't even have to dye the frosting. We did reqular cupcakes, not with the cones like they say.

Ours have to be store bought and sealed so my kids ask for donuts from the bakery at the store. =)

First I would check with the school, a lot of the schools in MI have stopped allowing home made treats. I have found cupcakes work great but can be expensive.
