Birthday Party Place Suggestions for 6 Year Old Boy

My boys turn 6 and 2 in July and I am stuck as to where to have their birthday party this year. We did a party at the park once which was not bad ( need to be creative and keep the kids entertained), last year we had it at Island Hop'n in Cresthill which was good too. I was thinking about Dupage Children's Museum but got discouraged when I realized that they count the adults and the children in the package, (most places only count the children). We live in Romeoville. Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You've gotten a lot of great replies so far, but I also have a couple ideas. The Petland in Bolingbrook does parties (very reasonably priced) where they bring different animals out to show the kids and they can get up close with them. Splash Station in Joliet is pretty reasonably priced to do a party and also the park districts in Plainfield and Joliet do pool parties as well. Hope that helps, we did my daughter's 3rd birthday at the bowling party in Channahon and it was by far the easiest and cheapest (but still nice) party I've ever done! Good luck!!

I really liked parks for my kid for most of her years till she hit 9. The mess wasnt at my house. We rented a bounce house one year, and a kids bounce house slide. We got the picnic cabanas near the playground so they could go play on the playground.

MaryKnoll Park in Wheaton has a spray park that would entertain both your 6 year old and your 2 year old. You only pay for the children and they have a covered patio as well as a playground right next to the spray park. I have been there for a birthday party and it has worked out well...everyone was entertained! Good luck!

Our favorite party was at the Morton Arboretum. You get passes that are good for a car load of people...I think we got 35. There is a fantastic children's garden and splashing, climbing, etc. You can bring in food and you have a picnic shelter.

We just had our 6 yr old son's party at Monster Golf - the kids loved it. We weren't rushed - the kids eat 1st so they have time to play gulf. If they don't have a Monster Gulf what about miniature golf.

Hi there, Bolinbrook park district has a water park you can rent out for parties after hours. We went ther for a party and it was great. I have a 5 and a1 year old and they could both enjoy it. There is a zero depth pool with some sprayers as well as 3 slides for the bigger kids. The provide life guards and there is an eating area where you can serve the food. This was in the indoor section. Here is the website http://www.bolingbrookparks.org/Attractions_and_Facilitie.... Good luck.

Bowling is always fun or miniature golf. We just went to a party at a Park District. They had 2 workers entertaining the kids in the gym then they had a room for pizza and cake afterwards. The kids had a blast! We also go to Pump It Up sometimes. It is an indoor bounce house place. A ton of fun! Maybe there is one closer to you. This one is in Orland Park I think. It is on Wolf Rd and basically right before I-80.

What about a Magician? I will come to your place, bring everything needed to entertain everyone in attendance for 45 minutes.

My shows have live animals, audience participation, music, backdrops. I also can do balloon sculptures.

I will provide you with references of past parties I have performed at.

For more information please check out http://www.paulleemagic.com

Having a party at home will be cost effective it believe. I have many Magic Show types.

Best of luck,

Puimp It Up is the hands down the best place for parties. It's pricey, but no more than the children's museum would be and they don't charge for adults which was great for us. We have a big family and wanted to invite the adults but didn't want to pay extra for them. They have packages for 25 kids, or smaller ones for 15 kids. I think kids under 2 are free. The parties are all private and well organized. You won't have to do a thing! It would work well for both the 6 yr old and the 2 yr old.

We had my son's birthday party at Chaser's laser tag (next to the Fox Valley mall in Naperville). They kids loved every minute of it! Not sure who had more fun the kids or my husband and I. Now we are thinking of having our 40th birthday party there LOL. But seriously, it was well organized and highly entertaining. One word of warning- it is a bit loud in there.

We just had my son's 6th birthday @ Karate for Kids in Plainfield. It is by 127th and 59. All of the kids had a blast and the prices are really reasonable. They have a karate party and also a Star Wars themed jedi training party. We did the Jedi party and included a board breaking segment with an additional half hour for an additional $50 and the kids absolutely loved it. The price is $150 for 10 kids for an hour and a half. you can add more time and more kids if needed. His party was over a month ago and the kids and parents are still talking about it.
