Birthday Party Ideas (Inexpensive) for Twin 7 Year Old Boys

I have twin boys that will be turning 7 on the 7th of September. Normally we have a big party at the house with family and a few friends. Due to the recent storm (6/8/08), our yard is not party friendly. Also, I kind of wanted to something special because it is their "golden birthday" and they actually have friends now from school. I thought of bowling, inflatable planet and a few others but I'm not real thrilled about either. Our front yard and drive are nice and could hold a party but I'm at a loss for a theme or fun ideas to keep the kids busy. Any help or ideas are welcome. We are in the White Lake area.

What can I do next?

Hey M.,

I am also from White Lake and had my yard completely trashed by the same storm. My son's birthday was June 21st and mine on the 22nd. We went ahead and did a party in our yard anyway. Tree stumps, log piles and all. We didn't even have a patio set or play structure anymore, but we had a blast. I borrowed a moon bounce from a neighbor, we did water balloons, slip n slide and had a great time. I had my family bring card tables and chairs and everyone brought a dish. I even thought about making it a picnic style. Or, a cool idea would be an evening party with a bonfire so you could do dogs and marshmallows and they could play hide n seek in the dark. I really wouldn't worry about the shape of your yard. Everyone knows what happened here and they will understand. We had 9 70 foot trees fall in our backyard. Just make the most of it. I love at home parties the best. Good Luck.

K.

Rolladium in Waterford, Rollerama in Brighton, or Rollhaven in Grand Blanc. (Rollhaven has skating, a bounce house, Laser Tag, and arcade games).

How about having a water party, the weather will still be nice then. You could have a slip n slide, some water balloons, some water pistols from the dollar store (that kind of summer stuff is all on sale right now). Let all the parents know so they bring swimwear and towels. You could have different stations with the different water activities.
Have you asked your boys for ideas, they're at an age where they could give input on a theme or some ideas so you know it's something they'd enjoy.
Then just do hot dogs, burgers and snacky foods to serve when they're all worn out from running around getting each other wet.
Hope they have fun and you come up with an idea that they like.
