Hi K.! I also have a 2 year old, actually twins, but I am a consultant for a company called Do-Re-Me&You! They are created by Kindermusik so all of the products are music related. They are unique Cd's, books, playthings and instruments. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like my web address. Have you considered having the party at the Childrens' museum?

I know of a great music studio in Minneapolis, near Lake Nokomis, where preschool music classes are held. You could have the party there and also have some music activities for the children and parents in attendance.

Hi, I have a 2 yr boy that LOVES trains, so we often go to this place called choochoo bob's in st paul (i think it's cleveland and marshall) and i know that they have a special "party" room that costs like $100 is what i remember, but not sure on that, and it then includes a cake and loot bags for like 8 kids, and more can be added... i dunno the specifics, but i'm considering this place myself for his 3rd b-day =)
good luck, and happy hunting

Grandpa started a college saving account for our little one to help cut back on the excessive amounts of toys gifted. This will really be useful one day. Also children's museam is great for children in this age group. Hope your little one has a very happy Birthday!

I have given savings bonds as gifts, they appreciate them later in life when the child want to buy expensive toy items.

I have started to give savings bonds to friends and family's kids as we are all a bit overwhelmed by the amount of toys our kids accumulate.

Hi!

My daughter just turned 2 on March 6 and we had the same scenario...wanted to get her something intangible that she would love so we got her a membership to the Children's Museum ($75). Their Habitot area is specifically geared toward our kids' age group, but the rest of the place is fun for them as well.

As for party places, you can check twincities.babyzone.com...I know they have some listed on there, but not sure what/where.

Good luck!

My daughter just turned one and we have had a similar problem compounded by the fact that she has a sister only 21 months older. We did get her a little toy but then I made and ordered a special book of pictures from her first year for her (I ordered from Winkflash, but I think all the on-line photo services do something like this). I thought it could be a keepsake, but also she loves looking at pictures of herself now too. I'm thinking of doing the same thing for my older daughter when she turns 3 in a couple of months.
