I had my daughters 2nd birthday at mcdonalds off I-10 near wurzbach rd and it was great. I know they have others but this one is much nicer than most. They have games that are free and a few that are a quarter with a small slide and everything. My best friend took her daughter who is 1 y/o and she had a blast. This place is super cheap and not nearly as crowded as chuck e cheese. I wouldn't of expected such an awesome experience with mcdonalds but they did a wonderful job.

If you are near windcrest mckenna museum wouldn't be too far but it would cost a lot more. http://www.nbchildren.org/default_flash.aspx

Good Luck!

have it at your house. it's already babyproofed! keep things simple! have a definite START and END time--no longer than 2 hours. this age is too young to have parents drop their kids off. have snacks and water, tea or lemonade for the parents. what does the guest list look like? children of all ages or only kids her age? don't feel like you have to invite everyone under the sun, but if you are having a large gathering ask your close friends and family to help out.

IMHO I would just do something small at your house. A 1 year old's birthday party is more for the parents then it is for the child. Your baby will not remember the party and will probably be more happy at home w/just a few guests and not a lot of hoopla then she would be at a big blow-out. Most 1 year olds get over-stimulated and upset at big functions and don't have a good time. I'm sure she and you would have more fun at home w/close friends and fmaily.

I am an organizer of a moms group in your area and from my experience with our group the one year olds tend to enjoy gymboree (they do offer Bday parties) the New Braunfields (McKenna) Children's Musuem, and the zoo. They all offer Birthday parties. My daughter just turned one last week and we had a tea party at our house! It was so much fun! She had a ball!

Good Luck!

There is a place called Big Top Kidz. It is on the Northside of town stone oak parkway off of 1604. You can rent a private party room and there is an area where the kiddos can play. They have alot of things your little one can play with. I take my son there at least 2 times a month if not more. He loves it. He is 2.

I held our first birthdays at the park and grilled hotdogs. Its cheaper than chuckecheeses and its fun for everyone.

For my sons first bday, we just had a small gathering of family at our house. We had dinner and cake. Since he was only one we didn't want to do anything big since he would never remember.
