A 2 year old is only going to want to run and play, not do anything organized. I think that letting them run amok and play their little hearts out is the thing to do. Then give a big whistle or something and have them all come eat cake and ice cream. They can then sit and watch little one open presents. Then off to play again.

Parties for this age group is for the adults, not the kiddo. They won't remember it in any way so the memories are for the family.

Keep food simple, juice boxes or Capri Suns, finger foods (kids and adults love them) and cupcakes.

What does she like? If it's anything Disney check out Spoonful.com for ideas. I went there for our upcoming Jake and the Never Land party and found the treasure chest cake I'll bake, food ideas and crafts. They have printable coloring sheets of all sorts, you can have those and crayons available, maybe have little "prizes" for the three best coloring attempts. They have craft ideas there, too, the older ones might like making something. If she's not into Disney do a search for the characters or things she likes for party ideas, they're all over the internet. At 2 my guy loved Elmo so I found Elmo face cupcakes to make, people asked me where I bought them ;)

You don't need games, kids like to play. All ages like blowing bubbles, you can find them at Dollar Tree. Balloons make everything special, blow some up and have them where kids can toss and kick them. Play some music so the kids can dance. And gear the party to your daughter, she's the birthday child.

At 2, I let it be a free for all. Just gave the kids toys and sidewalk chalk and let them have at it for a few hours. Kid-friendly food like chips and goldfish and veggie platter and juice boxes. We did cake, but other people do cupcakes and let the kids decorate them.

Or you could do something simple. My DD did a dino theme last year (well dinos and butterflies) and we had a sandbox with rubber dinosaurs hidden in it (one per kid) and we had inflatable dinos around that they got to take home. The pinata was a butterfly. Hint - put OTHER things in the pinata rather than just candy. Rubber duckies are a hit with many age groups and Oriental Trading has a lot of sets.

I agree that the kids just want to run around and make their own fun. I would blow up some balloons and let them throw/kick them around. Get some sugar cookies and let the kids decorate them. For my son's 2nd birthday I had the kids paint small terra cotta flower pots then they got to take them home as part of their goody bags. Finger foods are best for kids - they eat and run. Chicken tenders, fries, soft pretzel bites with dips, mini hot dogs, or maybe a hero sandwich. Good Luck!

Kabobs! Fruit, (3 different kinds make it pretty and colorful), or meat and cheese, or even 2 different types of donuts!
Good luck! Just make sure little girl gets a good solid nap in , so she can enjoy the party.
Duck, duck, goose is always popular - you can change the words to fit your theme - we recently had an army party for my 6 yo son and played "Solider, solider, spy". You could do "princes, witch', "fairy, troll", "butterfly, bird" Have someone else take all the pictures, because you will be sooo busy!!
