Birthday Ideas for 2-Year Old

I have to come up with a party venue or idea that will accommodate all my relatives and friends and their kids. There will only be about 6-7 kids ages 1-3 but lots of adults. I have to figure out how to keep everyone happy and occupied and make sure the kids have fun too. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Not sure where you are located but we had our 2yr party at the ELK GROVE PAVILLION, there are lots of different themed party rooms. Check them out on-line.
Good Luck!

Hi P.,

My daughter turns two April 1st. And at first I had the same problem. But my husband came up with a great idea. We are having a bowling party. Two lanes with bumpers for the kids and then the adults can bowl on the other ones. I think it ends up being $15 a person and that includes two games a large pizza for four and free drinks. We figure everyone loves bowling... I hope this helps.

I wouldn't worry about a lot of entertaining. For one thing, the party probably won't last that long, given nap times, etc. Plus it will take a long time just to do the presents, cake, eat, etc. Time will fly by. We did a little get together at my parents house for my son's second birthday. I kept it simple with animal balloons as the theme.

On the Martha Stewart website they show balloon animal ideas where you cut out ears, noses, eyes, out of tissue paper. (This can be done before the party.) Then you use double-sided tape to put them onto helium filled balloons. We did the duck, pig and bear. My son loved it. We had lots of those balloons around. I got my husband to make some balloon animals, typical clown-like ones the night before. You can pick up a book/balloon package thing at Party City that's pretty reasonable. It was actually fun having my parents and us figure them out. Some of them are pretty easy.

Then for the cake, we did ice cream cone cakes. You make regular cupcakes put place an ice cream cone on top of the batter before putting it into the oven. (I found this idea online.) I was surprised that it worked and was easy. Then I simply iced the cupcakes in their cones and used colored sprinkles. It was real cute and actually pretty easy for my 2 year old to eat.

Our party lasted about 2 hours. It was plenty of time to take care of all of the party stuff without rushing. Have fun!

We had our ds birthday party at a children's Museum in Oak Park. There was a room that we had decorations and cake. There were kids in several age categories and because there were so many activities, kids and parents got to play and have a good time with Face Paining, Building blocks, drawing, painting, etc.

There is a really cool indoor soccer place on 23rd and Throop you might want to consider as well. you can go to their site, www.chitownfutbol.com. Kids love balls no matter what age and it gave the kids stuff to do. It's a lot of fun.

The best part of having events other places is that you don't have to clean up before or after the event.

good luck and enjoy!

We had my daughter's 2nd birthday party at an indoor facility (playground) through the park district. There are 3-4 in our area. Not sure where you're located, but check out different park district facilities in your area.
