Sullivan's steakhouse off of the tollway & Trinity Mills road has wonderful food, and a room where they have live jazz music. Sambuca in Addison also has live music and good food.
Anyone have any ideas/recommendations for a friends and family gathering (surprise) for my husband's 46th birthday THIS FRIDAY, July 11th? We live in Allen, but are willing to go just about anywhere in the metroplex for dinner. Would like to go somewhere where there is music and maybe even dancing!!! I think I can get about 15-20 people or so to come. Thanks!!!!!

THe Shops of Legacy is a lot of fun with great restaurants. You could dine somplace like Nicola's, Jasper's, Cru Bar, Zaan, etc and then go to Martini Park. Martini Park has a band that starts around 9.
If Martini knows in advance you can reserve an area for your group.
Loft 610 is also nice (tollway and 121). They have a restaurant upstairs and music. The dance floor gets a bit crowded though.
Enjoy!
I don't know what price range you are looking for, but you could try Sullivan's Steakhouse on the Tollway near Trinity Mills. They have a bar with live music and dancing. Plus, the food is great. You might even be able to reserve a private room for your group.
Mu husband and friends surprised me last year with dinner at Al Amir. We went to the one in Dallas, but I understand there is one in Addison. It was hysterical! They have belly dancers and we laughed for hours. It was also a new type of food which made it fun for everyone to try.

Terrelli's in Frisco or Dallas!
There are several places in downtown McKinney that could be what you're looking for. If you're looking for something more casual, the Cadillac Pizza Pub has live music and good brick-oven pizza. Poppy's has outdoor seating in a beautiful garden overlooking a gazebo where they have live music on weekends (this is a bit nicer restaurant, but not crazy expensive) http://poppys-gardencafe.com/. La Misha has dinner and salsa dancing every Friday night (dancing starts at 9) lamisha.com. If you can put it off until Saturday night, the E Flat Porch Band will be playing at Cafe Malaga http://cafemalaga.com/. All of these are within a block of the main square in McKinney. Enjoy!
What about the steak house next the Mesquite Rodeo grounds. or the Old San Francisco Steak House... with the lady in the swing. Have fun!
Got a great place with yummy food and great music. You can sit indoors or out on the patio. It is off the Stacy Rd. exit, not toward the outlet mall...the other way and it is past Greenville on the left. The Venue Grill (my friend Dawn runs the place and would take good care of you) tell her K. referred you. ###-###-#### to see who is playing the night you are interested in...have fun!!!
