I am looking to order a yummy, Elmo birthday cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. Any suggestions of a bakery or store? Last year we ordered a Sam's Club cake, and I was not impressed. I am not looking to spend too much money, since it is just my family attending the party.
I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake from Jewel with Elmo, and the bill was $35. Then I went to Super Target, and the same exact cake was $21.99. So, I am cancelling my order with Jewel and will try out Super Target. Thanks for all the advice.

If you want a good cake you have to try weber's bakery located in chicago on Archer. I ordered my son's birthday cake there and everyone asked me where did I get the cake and some wanted to take some cake home, that's how good it is. Price is higher than any cake from Jewels or Sam's Club but I am a firm believer of "you get what you pay for" here is their website. www.webersbakery.com. Good luck.

Beverly Bakery on Western Ave. in Chicago (Beverly) makes awesome cakes. They also make a "cupcake cake" which is really unique and very tasty. They make as many cupcakes as you want and then they put frosting on top of all of the cupcakes, hence it becomes one big "cupcake cake". You don't need a knife to cut it...you just pull the cupcakes off one at a time.
They seriously have the best cakes I've ever tasted!!

I would recommend Dinkel's on Lincoln. I needed an Oscar the Grouch cake (not on their normal list of characters - but they modified another Sesame Street design to make it work). Persoanlly I have always liked the Jewel cakes. You can get all kinds of fillings or choose exactly the frsoting etc. But sine I won't be at the party it is up to you. LOL If I were coming I' d say devil food chocolate with cholate frosting with Elmo on top. YUM I love cake.

I would recommend Swedish Bakery on Clark Street in Andersonville. www.swedishbakery.com The prices can be a little higher for some things, but I think it would be worth calling to find out. We buy all of our birthday cakes from there and are always happy with them.

If you have a Super Target near you, they are awesome. I have ordered a few cakes there. Think Sam's club price, but with it decorated perfectly, and VERY yummy. Everyone complimented the taste of the cake. Moist, and I get the whipped cream frosting, so it is really good. They have a really big decor idea book to choose from and you only need to order it like 1 or 2 days ahead of time.
Believe it or not, Jewel has a great Devil's Food cake....they have lots of sizes so you could get a smaller one just for your family. They also do tons of designs.
