I have been off birth control since January and FINALLY just got my sex drive back, i have been thinking about getting back on something but dont want a pill or anything that will cause me to lose my sex drive again. I can not have it happen again it is so great to finally have it back as i am 20 and want to enjoy my relationship So do any of you guys have any suggestions on birth control that dont cause you to lose your drive?

What can I do next?

This is not a dig to you but I don't understand these questions. My sex drive has never been driven by my birth control. Not saying that isn't an issue to some but I don't understand how it could be true.

I guess I am saying I would recommend what I am on which is Seasonale but as you described this should effect your sex drive.

Not sure if that makes sense.

Copper IUD worked for me!

Added bonus: research is showing that is also lowers your chances at cervical cancer! It hasn't been retested (the medical community wants three or more studies before they say anything for sure...) but it is pretty compelling!

The downside is that some doctors will not put them in unless you are married because they assume that if you are single you are getting thing on with multiple partners (IUD's do make your risks for STDs higher with multiple partners) and that if you are married that you only have one partner.

I can't take hormones either. Your non-hormonal options include:

- Copper IUD
- Condoms + Spermacide
- Diphragm +
- Cervical Cap +
"rhythm method"/fertility monitoring (this one in the medical industry is known as/nicknamed "mothers", since while it works for some people, the majority get pregnant on it)

I chose the copper IUD 9 years ago because it has the same failure rate as a tubal ligation, is good for 10 years, works day of insertion (no waiting period), and is not affected by things that affect hormonal BC (like antibiotics). There are 2 kinds of IUDs; Mirena (hormones) and Paragard (copper). Mirena does NOT work the same way (higher failure rate by a *lot*, has a waiting period, is affected by antibiotics, etc.)

My husband and I use Natural Family Planning. (http://www.ccli.org/nfp/) It is often mistaken as the old rhythm method, but it is not. It is much more involved and over 99% effective. Side effects are greater awareness of your body, greater communication between the couple, greater respect between partners, no chemicals, non-abortive. A class from a source such as the link above is recommended. This method has improved our marriage. Best wishes!

I have the paragard IUD with no hormones and I love it. If your not allergic to copper and can have a IUD then I highly recommend it. Good luck.

I also had an IUD for seven years. I heard somewhere that it is a form of an abortion after I got it out. Not sure how I feel about that but it worked so great and when I wanted another baby, I got pregnant right away and I also heard that after getting an IUD removed, it makes you twice as fertile... at least it did me... but for seven years it did the job! I don't think you are supposed to keep them in that long but I loved mine after messing with diaprams for so long.... (which also worked by the way.)
