go to the store, get the little test, ease your mind.....2 babies in 2 years....that can also stress out your systems...sometimes it takes awhile, also, to get regulated on the pill...
Hello,
I started the pill a few months ago. I didn't wait untill the first day after my period, I just started taking them and got my period mid way thru the pack and not during the "sugar pills". I've gone thru two months worth of pills and have not gotten my period since. Is this normal? I am currently breast feeding my 4 month old. I know I should just go and get a test, but really I'm not ready to face the fact that I might be pregnant agian. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!oh...o'mon the mini pill, if that helps.

The description of your experience was exactly mine recently. I had minor bleeding about 2 weeks after starting the mini-pill, and my period still hasn't returned (my baby is 7 months old). I did a lot of research on the mini-pill and apparently it's pretty common to have irregular bleeding as your body adjusts to it. After that happens though, it's likely your period will stay away until you are not exclusively breastfeeding (or your baby is sleeping all night without nursing). I would think that if it's been 2 months since you had that bleeding you'd have plenty of pregnancy symptoms at this point-- but, if you're worried you'd better take a HPT!
When I was nursing my son it was at least 6 months if not longer before my period started up again, which I've heard is very common. I would be more concerned about taking the pill while you are still breastfeeding. I was told this is a big no-no. You might want to get a second opinion on that...from a doctor, not the internet. In the mean time, enjoy your period-free time. It will be back before you know it!
Definately get a test to be sure. You don't want to be taking the pill if you are in fact, pregnant. I can relate, my 2 middle boys are 10 1/2 months apart. I almost had a heart attack when I took the home test and it was positive. My newborn was only 6 weeks old. Good Luck!!!!
S.- It is very common while breast feeding not to get your period. If it gives you a piece of mind, go get a test. I know when i was breast feeding i didnt get my period for almost 9 months. We used duel protection to play it safe.
Hope this helps!

I know when you are breast feeding, you normally do not get your period. I'm not sure how your brand works since it is probably a brand to use during breast feeding but I have always had to start mine the Monday after my period. I would go and get a test because you aren't supposed to take the pill while you are pregnant and you should find out, but it just may be because you are breastfeeding.
Hmm..which pill are you taking? Breastfeeding, when done on demand, can put a halt to your period for many months.
I am also breastfeeding my four month old son and on the mini pill. I had a period about 6 or 7 weeks after delivery and have not had one since. This is normal according to my ob/gyn. I also breastfeed my 4 year old son and did not have a period for 6 months. Then I did not have another until I stopped breastfeeding my son at 10 months because I was not producing any more milk. Hope all this helps.
I was on the pills that have lower hormone doses since I was still breastfeeding my daughter (I assume you're on the same), and I don't think I got my period for 3-4 months, possibly until I went on the normal dosage pill. I breastfed my son for longer, and don't remember when I got my period that time, but I don't think it's at all unusual to not get a period straight out the gate. I worried too, but it worked itself out for me.
Hi S.. When I went back on the pill, I didn't even have a period for 2-3 months (except random spotting here and there). I was also breastfeeding...hormones are probably playing a big role in your case. However, to put your mind at ease, you could just do a pregnancy test. I bet you'll feel better by doing so. Take care - enjoy your new little one!
Hi S.!
I too breastfed my daughter and was taking the pill for breastfeeding moms. I got pregant when my daughter was 7 months old, and like you I did not get a period for months. I was freaked out that I may be pregant so I did not take a test until I was 3 1/2 months along...so my suggestion to you is take the test to be sure. ;-) and good luck!

Ha! I thought the same thing. When I started the pill I didn't get my period for 4 months. I went to the doctor and was NOT pregnant!! I stopped the pill until my period came and then started up again with the normal cycle with a new packet. I use the left over packet as emergency extras if I haven't had a chance to pick up the new prescription. I take Yaz so not sure if this makes a difference.
Hi S. my name is Pastor Davis. You cycle might have been thrown of course due to a possible side effect. However, I really do think that you need to take the test as soon as possible. If not your Gyne perhaps you can do a home pregnancy test.
I am on the mini pill too...I believe it is the only one that is considered safe to use while breastfeeding. And I am pretty sure my doctor said that there are NO sugar pills with this kind. You need to take all of them. With both of my children I had period-like bleeding when they were 2 months old then nothing. With my first, my regular period started when he was about 7 months. My second is 6.5 months now, so we will see what happens. I have taken a periodic home test just for peace of mind.
it might be because you are nursing. it would be very odd for you to get a period at four months post partum if you are exclusively breastfeeding on demand.
I am on a BCP and started taking it when I was 4 months post delivery and 100% breastfeeding. I am now almost 9 months postpartum, still on the pill, and still no period. That is common when you are breastfeeding.
i solely breastfed no supplements, baby gaining weight and i still got my period back at 6 weeks so i went on the pill, there are certain ones that are ok while breastfeeding, i would definately take a home test it will be worth the 10 bucks to ease your mind

My lactation consultant and midwife told that me that you can't take birth control pills while breastfeeding. The only safe methods were the IUD, diaphragm or condom. I would research more if I were you.
