Read the information sheet that is required to be given to you with each prescription you have filled. If you can't understand that information, then call the pharmacy where they were filled.

You seriously don't get why members accused you of being a troll in the past? "Is it okay to take them with alcohol?"

Swallow the darn things with a liquid, sure get drunk if it helps, but please for the love of the future of this country, take them.

How on earth can an adult not swallow a tiny little pill?
And I second everything Jo W. said.

They don't really ask you what type of BC you want to go on, unless you specify that you are having specific problems. They just give you their standard favorite. Like if you are having problems with acne they may give you Yaz. Those fancier ones are much more expensive though. My Yaz cost's 35 bucks a month for me, when most of my RX's are 10 bucks.

You need to take your pill at the same time everyday. Stick it way back on your tongue and take a gulp of water. My 8 year old can take a horse pill that way. Yes you can drink alcohol while on the pill. It will not affect it's effectiveness.

The worst thing you can do with the pill is to forget them. Put most of your worry into taking one per day at the same time.

If you just can't swallow a tiny pill then crush it into a spoon by squishing another spoon into the spoon with your pill. (like spooning in bed :) Once you get the powder drop a tiny bit of water and then slurp it down. It will taste gross though. I recommend learning to swallow a pill.

Set your alarm on your phone for the same time every day, just like a wake up alarm. Every day with no expiration date. You could also set it up on a yahoo calendar if you use one.

I would ask a pharmacist any medicine related questions. Docs don't know squat about medication. They only know what the pharmaceutical companies tell them. They do get well versed in common knowledge of course but a pharmacist goes to years of college and knows the chemical make up of each medication and how it works the best or what destroys it.

I would never trust what a doc said if a pharmacist told me different information.

Call the pharmacy that filled the script. They will tell you all you need to know.

Birth control pills are really tiny so you should be able to swallow them. I wouldn't advise taking them with alcohol though. If your doctor isn't helpful, try being a bit more assertive with him or her with your questions. Not pushy but just say, hey wait a minute I have some questions. If the doctor still tries to push you out the door, then switch doctors. You need to feel comfortable with your doctor. But most doctors are abrupt but if you DO need something they will stop. They just keep the ball rolling because they have to see a lot of patients in a short amount of time. But if you ask they should answer. Before you go in though, do your homework. Look up the various pills, side affects then go in with questions.

They are very small. Just take them with water. Take them at the same time each day. Alcohol is fine. Antibiotics will interefere with the effectivness, so if you go on antibiotics use a back up. The pharmacist should explain all of this.

Alcohol will not affect the pill, throwing up later will if u get too intoxicated :) If you cannot swallow the pill you should crush it into food and make sure you eat it all. Dissolving it will work as long as you swallow the saliva created but it sounds really gross. have you tried putting the pill in your mouth and then taking a huge gulp of water or chugging water, it has to go down that way.

There are risks to taking birth control if you smoke (and other risks). If your doctor did not explain this or evaluate your overall health status before prescribing them, then shame on your doctor. But if you ingest medicine w/o understanding how it works, how to take them and what risks and side effects there may be, then shame in you. Read the inserts carefully, talk to the pharmacist if you cannot talk to your doctor, and find a new doctor. Best wishes.

They're tiny and not hard to swallow. I wouldn't take them with alcohol. Read the insert that comes with them. And get a new obstetrician.

Like every one said, they should not be hard to swallow.

But you also need to find a new doctor that has time to speak with you.

Never take any medicine with alcohol, including birth control. The alcohol will interfer with how the med is absorbed into your blood stream. Wait a while before you have the alcohol after you've taken the pill. You could even take it in the morning with your breakfast. Just make sure to never skip your pill. As for not being able to swallow them, there are a lot of people that have trouble swallowing pills of any size. I'm one of them. I found that it's easier for me to put the little pill on the tip of my tongue, instead of the back like recommended. Then I let it float down with a slow steady sip of water/orange juice. If that doesn't work, you can ask for other methods of birth control like shots, patches, or inter-uterine devices. Now for your doctor...I'd get another one fast. Doctors should be answering all your questions and not rely on an insert from the pharmacists. Many people can't read those things, because the can be very intimidating, complicated, and the print is just plain too small to read. I had a nasty female doctor that used to make really nasty comments during my exam to my hubby. Hubby liked her, I hated her. She used to get so mad, because I'm a squirmer. Then I changed to a male doctor when I was pregnant, because he was in with a group of doctors. He was a military doctor. To my surprise, he was so gentil that I didn't even feel him examine me and so nice. He'd explain to my hubby that I wasn't a wimp and that most women are just like me. He retired and a female doctor took his place. She's just like him and very nice.
