Alright I'm realy new to all this so here goes I recently started taking birth control this is my first month and I'm on the second Inactive pill but I haven't had my periodyet. Instead I have had white discharge that makes my panties pretty wet. I have had protected sex over the last month during my last period and the 1 and 2 of this month so like 10 days ago. Is this common? OR should I be concerned that my period hasn't started. I'm confused about the discharge the gyn Dr didn't tell me what to expect or to expect discharge. Any information would be appreciated.

What can I do next?

It sometimes takes me until half way through day 3 of the placebos, before I get any indications that my period is starting. And I have been on the darn things for 20 years (minus the years I was pregnant or trying to conceive).

My period always started on the second or third day of the placebo week (22 years of being on the pill).

Is the white discharge yeast? If you've had yeast infections before you would recognize that, but if you haven't... I got yeast infections more often on the pill than when I wasn't. I always had plenty of itching and discomfort with the white discharge to know that it was a yeast infection, though, and you don't mention that.

There are tests now that you can buy at the drug store to figure out if you have yeast or something else, also.

I never get my period until the second or third placebo, so I wouldn't find that abnormal at all. Pretty much most pills now have the same strength throughout the pack so you aren't even getting a hormone drop till the second day, then your period starts.

If you really have questions call your doctor or the pharmacy.

It may be that your body is adjusting to the pill. Give it a few days and call your doctor if you are concerned about it.

It takes awhile for your body to adjust to the pills. Didn't the doctor tell you to use another method of birth control for the first month? I wouldn't be concerned that your period hasn't started yet. Your body is likely not responding to the hormone difference or I should say the hormone difference isn't strong enough yet. I also think that a period doesn't always start immediately upon taking the inactive pill. At least, if I remember correctly, mine didn't.

I suggest that the discharge could be caused by the hormone difference in your body. (later) there are infections, other than yeast, that can cause excessive discharge.

I'd call the advice nurse at your doctor's office and ask these questions.

I'm shocked that the doctor didn't tell you to use an additional method of birth control for the first month!! It doesn't work on the first day.

Prior to my uterine ablation (still on the pill now but no periods), my period started on about day three of the placebos for decades! No discharge except those very rare antibiotic related yeast infections.
