"Big Girl Underwear"

I took my daughter to the store and we bought 2 3 packs of "big girl underwear", she picked them her self and I know she likes them as they are My Little Pony and Dora. They are just basic Fruit of the Loom underwear but she won't wear them because she says they are uncomfortable and they make her itch. They are the right size, I don't know if she just needs to get used to them, or if they are in fact really uncomfortable. She basically refuses to wear them which is fine when we are home alone, but we do have company quite a bit and I do not let her run around naked when people are over obviously and when we go out she needs to wear underwear, even through her requests of wearing nothing underneathe her pants. Anybody go through this? If so, any suggestions are greatly appreciated for underwear that may be more comfortable for her.

What can I do next?

Of course they're uncomfortable. She's use to wearing a diaper or pullup and these feel much different.

Probably a stupid question. Did you wash the underwear first?

Hi, There the trim might bother her .The elastic part of her under wear. Try to find all cotton with cotton binding trim. This might be more comfortable and you they might be a bit more for them.

No they don't itch they just don't feel like a diaper. Don't give her the option of wearing them or not wearing them. Just tell her in a matter of fact way that everyone has to wear underwear beneath their clothes. She'll get use to them.

i also have found that the dora and elmo undies are not as soft...the cartoons stay stiff after washing.

Hello Monica,
My youngest said the same thing but quickly started wearing them within a week or two. She has completed her potty training about 2-3 weeks ago and initially didn't want to wear what she calls,'pretty underwear' and continued to wear Pull Ups.
In the meantime, be patient, because she will most likely surprise you and suddenly start wearing them like my daughter did. Just keep showing them to her, and tell her how you wear them and how comfy they are, and mention other family members-even cousins that wear underwear, etc.
They never cease to surprise us!
Good Luck!
Laura~
