As long as their height is in balance with their weight and their ped isn't concerned I wouldn't worry about it. My oldest daughter was 9lb4oz at birth, over 20lbs by around 6 mos, but she's almost 3 now and has only gained about 2lbs in the last year. She is big and tall for her age, but she's healthy. (My youngest was 8lb 11oz and is a peanut now...she's 15mos and still hasn't hit 20lbs yet). As long as their doctor isn't concerned I wouldnt' worry about it too much right now.

Don't worry, your boys are fine. Your pediatrician would let you know if there was a problem. My son was 7lbs 11 oz and 22 inches at birth and began to grow extremely fast. At all of his appointments he was ranked in the 95th percentile for both weight and height. He is now almost 9 months and is about 30 inches and 23 pounds and wears 12-18 month clothes. His father 6'2" and 260lbs and both of my brothers are over 6 feet, I am not concerned about his growth. Plus, I have noticed that his weight has become very steady as he has become more active.

Hi A., what does your DR say. Is she concerned? I have 2 boys as well and they are big kids. My 4 yr old is 45 pounds but he is very tall and slim. My 2 1/2 yr old is 35 pounds. Both of my children are tall so the weight is not an issue. I always encourage healthy snacks but we do have donuts for breakfast every once in awhile. Both boys were quite chubby when they were little. But now that they are walking and running every where they have shed some baby fat.

Nothing. Your boys should and most likely will be fine. My last child (my second boy) weighed 10 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 and a half inches long. He went home from the hospital weighing 11 lbs 4 oz.!! My other boy was 8 lbs. 6 oz. and was 22in long. My 8 pounder is now well over 6 ft. tall and healthy as can be. My 10 pounder is a healthy and active 7 yr. old. It's like my mom says, "you just like to grow 'em big!!" Just relax and plan on going clothes shopping several times a year for the next few years! You on the other hand should talk to your doctor because as women having babies over 8 or 9 lbs. we are more likely to have diabetes and other health problems.

Hello there,

I couldn't help but get back to you. I have three boys. My second was 10lbs 3oz, and my third was 9lbs 3oz. My first was 8lbs 14 oz, and he gained a lot of weight in the first nine months. As a matter of fact we had to change his car seat long before he was ready to get out of the carrier. Now they are 9,7,and 5. All tree of them are average height and weight. Once they hit 3 they really started to slim down. In the meantime, unless your pediatrician becomes concerned, I wouldn't worry about it. Warmest Regards, K.

Has the doctor told you there is something wrong with your kids. Let's face it, you just make big babies. Besides, the typical growth for a kid is to triple their birth weight by the time they turn 1. I'd say if you measure it that way your kids are right on track. If they are active, I wouldn't worry.

You are leaving out an important fact...how big are YOU? and their father? If you two are bigger than average adults...you will have bigger than average babies, and If you made it through deliveries of these two, what would you want to do differently? -Maybe some bicep curls? lol

Hi A.. I have a son who turned 2 at the end of August. At his 2-year apptmt he weighed in at 40 pounds and was 39 inches. His height and weight have literally been off the scale since he was about 3 months old. The doctor's predicting he'll be 6' 7" or so...

My son does not appear chubby - he's just very big. He now is wearing 4T or 5T clothes, even though he's only 2. As long as your pediatrician isn't concerned and if the height and weight are in proportion, your boys should be just fine.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as your pediatician isn't concerned. I have 3 children. My Daughter (6) is huge for her age. She is about 4 1/2 feet tall and weighs 84 lbs. She is in size 10 clothing. She is a little chubby but she is active and eats very healthy food and portions. The pediatrician says she is perfectly healthy and she has been off the charts since she was about a year old. On the other hand my son (3) is only 3 ft 4 in and weighs 29 lbs (he's a peanut) and my youngest (13 months) is 29in tall and only weights 19 lbs. They all three eat the same foods. it's just genes and metabolism. I wouldn't be at all concerned if i were you

Hey A.,

I don't think you should worry about your sons weigh unless there is some sort of health issue linked to this. My second son is 19 months old, weighs 34 lbs and mesures 34 inches!! He is a strong baby who loves to eat and run around. His brother who is 3 1/2 weighs 31 lbs, they are very different from one another and not built the same. My pediatrician doesn't seem alarm by my little one's weigh and only asked to switch him to skim milk. He says, that down the line, he will even out.

Good luck!

Hi A.-
Like was already said before, the boys' weight should even out as they grow. My son was the opposite-weighed 4 lbs. 11 oz. at birth, had problems gaining weight and now weighs about 28 pounds at 2 1/2. Your sons were also bigger babies, so keep that in mind. Maybe speak with their pediatrician to discuss your concerns and put your mind at ease.

Hi A.,

What's really funny is that my son is a Mark Jr as well, and he is also 17 months old! How funny is that??? He was born 4/30/05.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about their weight. My son was born at 7 pounds, 3 oz, and he now weights 25 pounds. You have to look at how much they weighed at birth and judge from that I think. I'd ask the doctor if there should be any concern, but I have a friend whose daughter was really really big for her age. She weighed close to 27 pounds at a year old. She is now 5 years old and perfectly sized. Some kids just grow quicker than others. But, I'd check with the pediatrician if you're really worried about it.

Best,
C.

Hi, I know how you feel. I have an 18 month old daughter who is 33lbs. She is wearing size 2 & even sometimes a size 3. She has been big since she was born @ 9 lbs. My 4 month old son is already in 6/9 month for clothes. They are both very happy & healthy...just big kids. Try this percentile calculator to see how they mesure up. (I find the weight percentile is a little high compared to the doctor but it will give you a rough idea)

How are you doing teething wise? Mine are both teething right now which leaves them both extremely cranky....not much fun!! Kinda neat how close in age our kids are... Azlie was born April 8th 2005 & Sbastien on June 9th 2006.
