Bicycle Helmets

My son's head is too large for an infant bicycle helmet, and the larger size helmets have the ridge in the back which won't work with the older bike trailer we just got. A new trailer that would be compatible costs $400-$500, which we really don't want to spend. Even though the trailer is very sturdy, I don't like the idea of my son riding in it without a helmet. Anyone else had this problem?? Any ideas or suggestions??

What can I do next?

Skate boarding helmets, skiing helmets, hockey helmets. I don't know where you were shopping for the helmet that you have, but maybe they will have more options at someplace like cycle fit.

Walmart sells a bike helmet for $8 that doesn't have a ridge on the back of it. It was a tad bit for my child at first, so I just put a hat on my child before the helmet and that made up the difference. Good luck with it :)

My son has a big head too. We went to a bike shop and had him fitted. Most bike shops have a variety of helmets-- different shapes.

I got my son a skateboarding helmet from Target last year. It looks a lot like a batting helmet. Might work for you.
