Beyblades And/or Skylanders Storage

For the holidays, we started Beyblades and Skylanders collections for my six year old son. I want to find a good way to store all the pieces without spending the insane amounts on the official storage containers made for each product. How do you store yours? My nephew just tosses all of his skylanders into a box, but my brother in law says that sometimes little pieces break off if there is too much weight on top of them. For the beyblades, I'm hoping to keep the right launchers and rip cords with the blades they go with (since I don't know yet how to figure out what goes with what).

Thanks!

P.S. I'm not new to the site... somehow when I re-logged in, it pulled up an old profile from a few years ago and not the one I've been actively using for the last two years!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for the tips. I ended up finding an actual Skylanders case super cheap at Toys R Us today, so I decided to get that. I've got all the beyblades in a regular box for now. Good to know the rip cords aren't as top-specific as I thought.

I have a cheap basket on the floor next to the Wii for the Skylanders. Beys, well they are in the same grouping as legos, if I step on them I will cuss and throw them away so I am not really sure where they keep them but I can tell you they aren't on the floor!

Most of the parts of the beyblades are interchangeable anyway, so my son stores ALL of it in his stadium.

We got him skylanders: swap force for christmas, and the packages we got came with a free, soft-sided storage case. I bet you could get a rubbermaid (or equivalent) three drawer general storage container to store it all in.

If you have an Ikea near you I suggest these:

You can buy an insert to go in the top to help organize. My son has these for his Skylanders and other xbox games. 2 stack and fit in the space under my tv in the entertainment center.

I bought my son the skylander case on amazon for half of what they cost in the store. He is super happy with it and it even holds the portals.

We use plastic "shoebox" containers with lids for BeyBlades and Skylanders, although we might have to go up to a larger bin for the Skylanders soon. No pieces have ever broken off. I suspect your nephew has too many in too small of a container, or is tossing the portal on top of them.
