Ladies
(please don't anyone report this as I am not trying to in any way sell anything on here read the whole thing please)

I will in the spring be helping to organize a used book trade / sale. We will be taking in donations from people and they can take the same amount that they brought. It will have a cost to get in. that has yet to be determined. and books will be for sale to those who want to just buy and not trade. Now for the question.

We will be organizing and setting them into genre's and age groups. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on how to write the ad for the paper that says more than "used book sale" something catchy that will make people thing hmmm I shoudl go to this. We will be making flyers and posters to put up in local business's just need something catchy to put up on them.

If you have a catchy "theme" or "saying" please send it to me. I am terrible at this type of thing.
thanks

since the sale is in the spring....use that as your inspiration: "Take time to Spring into a good book" would be an example.

Or play up to the genres: "Spring into an Action/Thriller lately?" "Spring into a new Romance".....lots of good quirky ideas!

Good Luck!

Whatever you decide to do, make sure to advertise to the local schools! When teachers hear "free books" they come running! Very often teachers end-up with multiple copies of a book and would love to trade them in for a few new ones. Same deal with the parents. Meet with the local school principals and ask about sending home a flyer.

Pre-read books at greatly reduced prices.

If this is a non-profit organization you can send an email to all the radio and TV stations in your area and ask them to do a PSA (public service announcement). Write it up as "A pre-read book sale will be held on Saturday (date) from (time) to (time). All procedes to benefit (name) ...

Also in my area our cable provider has a channel that you can send in a simple ad and they put them up as slides under community announcements a couple of times a day. Also contact the Chamber of Commerence, and city to see if they have a community events page on their websites.

As long as you are a non-profit organization you can get a lot of free advertising.

facebook would be great for this. get everyone involved to post it all over thier wall.

You could do a dark green recycle symbol on a light green flyer and write something about Green Book Sale and Swap.
