My son has started leaking through his BG with 2 inserts at night and I was wondering if anyone can recommend anything else to me?

What can I do next?

You should try hemp inserts! They are very thin yet very absorbent. When I use my BGs at night I always use 2 hemp liners and the microfiber insert. I also like to use Thirsties Fab Fitted with a hemp insert and a cover. The Fab Fitted are so soft and cushy. My daughter can finally fit into the ones I'd bought for my son. We used them overnight for him when he was 4 so they can hold quite a bit.

We use Fuzi Bunz with microfiber inserts. My son isn't a huge wetter, but we almost never (like, once every 6 months) have a problem, and that usually is when I've not been careful to make sure he's tucked down in them. :-)

It's also possible that your diapers/inserts need to be stripped-- maybe they are repelling, rather than absorbing. Here's info: http://www.zany-zebra.com/stripping-cloth-diapers.shtml

We used Happy Heinys with my now 2 1/2 year old and we went through about three months where I could not get him through the night.

We used three inserts with the HH and a fleece cover AND then I put him in a wool longie. He looked ridiculous but it worked!

My 9 month old uses prefolds and I use a prefold and a super thick wool cover and he seems to stay dry.

Are you BGs absorbing? Did you check them to see if they need to be stripped?

Here's some info on that. You need to figure out if it's the diaper or just something you have to adjust to for right now.

There are a million different ways to strip your diapers...depending on who you ask! :)

I just would do a prewash with vinegar and no detergent and that seemed to help every month or so for a while.

Good luck!

For our toddler, we use chinese prefolds, sometimes with an extra infant prefold down the middle. If needed, a microfiber towel between the toddler prefold and the infant prefold (they are thin but super absorbent). You can get them at a store that carries cleaning supplies or car supplies. Just make sure that the microfiber doesn't touch him directly in any way, as it can be irritating to the skin.
