I have two wonderful women in my life that I am not sure what I would do without and I am trying to come up with a great gift for them for Christmas. I am working with a limited budget so I am having a hard time. We already do swapping of babysitting and such so I need any other ideas.
I thought it would be a great way to come up with some ideas by asking all you what the best gift you were given by a good friend.

Special time together, such as treating all of you to a pedicure or a nice dinner or a trip to the wine bar. Not sure on your budget, but whatever you do, you could make a fancy gift certificate for a BFF Night Out!
i make my own photo frames by buying simple, cheap ones and adding (glueing really) decorations to them (I love dry halapeno peppers but it can be anything, shells, stones, buttons etc..). You could make one and insert a photo of you guys together.
My friends know my style. I almost always love what they pick out for me clothing wise.
I have a pair of fleece pajama bottoms a friend gave me and I love them so much. I think about her everytime I put them on.
Do you have any wineries around? How about scheduling a day at one of their wine tasting events? That is if you/your friends drink wine.
something personal... maybe a "bath set" (bubble bath, shower gel, lotion type stuff all in the same fragrance), or if they like coffee, how about a personalized coffee mug (you can make them just about anywhere online, I just made one at zazzles.com for less than 15.00) with some single pot packs of flavored coffee (they are usually a couple of bucks at the grogery store) or some of their favorite flavored creamer....
I recently got one of my friends a Starbucks gift card for her birthday and she loved it. She was able to try some things that she wouldn't normally let herself buy.
We usually do stuff like making chocolate chip banana bread or yummy cupcakes or something and putting it in a pretty display tray or tin for them to keep.

I love having girls lunch sans kids with my besties. Perhaps, if $$ is tight, your gift is being your own caterer, coralling the hubbies to take kids for three hours and you treat them to a quite lunch/brunch in your home.
