I'm looking for some recommendations for good computer games that are educational for my daughter over the summer. She will be going into 3rd grade in the Fall.
In addition to the others, I suggest she learn how to type.
Already.
My Daughter, who is in 3rd grade, had a 2nd grade Teacher suggest this FREE site, for kids to learn how to type:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/
It helps and once they get older, they will be doing more 'typing' online and per school assignments and per testing.
My daughters loved playing The Oregon Trail game. It is fun, and very educational.
Elementary Advantage is the best one I've found it's does k-5th grade.
Our school sent home download and login info so that the kids can access the same games they play at school so he goes on those or he goes online. PBS has some for older kids.
www.Starfall.com is free and also has some extra paid content.
www.Time4Learning.com is wonderful, but has a monthly fee attached.
www.PBSkids.org is free and very entertaining as well. My son discovered Mr Rodger's Neighborhood on this site and is hooked!
