I would not schedule anything within 2 weeks of Christmas. But since you woud like that time frame try the 10th a Sat night. You didnt mention if kids were invlved or just a grown up dinner party. What kind etc
We are trying to decide which weekend to have our Christmas party this year. It seems like no matter when we do it, there are people who can't come due to their work office parties. Is there a typical office party day, like second Saturday of December or something? We are deciding between Dec 8 and Dec 15. I was just wondering if most offices do something closer to Christmas or earlier in the month- any ideas? (my husband's company is based in another state, so they never have parties, we have no frame of reference!).
It's a party at our home, mostly just friends, no kids.
Thanks!

Our neighbors throw the neighborhood Christmas party around Dec 15.
Office parties should throw them on the early side.
People start taking off for vacations and travel later in the month.
I like what Riley (Seattle) said--get the dates that your CLOSEST friends/family can make and schedule around that. I am a partier, so even if you said Christmas Eve, if I am in town, I am there!
Whatever date will NEVER please everyone.
Nope. Parties can happen whenever. It usually depends on the boss's schedule.
What I'd do is short list your favorite people, and find out what works best for them. They won't all be able to come... But that means there's a CHANCE they can come.
Is what you're planning a home party or an office party? Well, my answer would be the same either way. December is so busy that you probably won't find a date which will suit everybody. But I suggest you schedule your party as early in the month as you can, and extend the invitations as early as you can. Everybody just gets busier and busier as the month goes on and on!
Hope it'll be an enjoyable one!
I think it depends on what type of party it is (who is coming...just friends, extended family, immediate family or all three?). If just friends, the earlier the better. If family I would go with 15th since it is closest to Christmas.
As for work parties...where I used to work they did the first Saturday in December. My most immediate previous employer tended to do the Saturday that was mid-December only because the girl that handled it waited for the boss to come to her. When I handled it last year, I spoke to them early and made it the second weekend in December which worked better for most of us anyway.
I would hold it at the start of December. We have our family Christmas gathering mid Dec. I claimed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to my home/my house for my kids. It gets so crazy the last thing I want while shopping, cooking, working is to add yet another party to the list. It becomes overwhellming not fun!
We always do ours the weekend before Christmas. Seems companies don't have their parties that close to Christmas so family and friends are still able to come to our party. It gets crazy every year trying to coordinate everyone!!
Good luck!!
We have work parties Dec.2, Dec.9 and Dec. 15 this year.
Our company shoots for an early "holiday" party. December 8th. That way its before any personal plans.
Nothing after Dec. 12th please.
