We also have a Bissell ProHeat and LOVE it. We USE it and it really does work for us. The hand tools are a life saver and the machine overall is very easy to use. Well worth the money. :o)
Hi everyone I want to buy a carpet cleaner & I don't klnow which one to buy there are so many out there. I have my carpets cleaned every 5-6 months I thought instead of spending the money I should do it myself.

We clean every 4-6 months with a Bissel upright steam cleaner. It has removable heads for upholstery, etc and looks much like a vacuum cleaner. We've even gotten out stains that were there before we moved in. I think it was priced in the mid 200's, but my MIL bought it for us.

We use a Bissel upright that has removable heads for upholstery, etc every 4-6 months and it works great. It even has gotten out stains that were there from the previous occupant that the complex's professional cleaners couldn't get out and has removed crayon, lipstick and more (I have a 2-year old). My MIL bought it for us, so it was free to us, but I believe it cost somewhere in the mid 200's and a couple bottles of soap are about $8 every time we do the whole apartment. Depending on what you spend to have it done, it may be worth it.

my mom bought her hoover at Sears years ago. She has used that thing to pieces and the motor is still strong. I love it and want to get me one just like it. She has also loaned it to me and tons of others to use. I think if I get one, I am going to keep it a secret, because people she don't even hardly ever see come borrow it all the time. Anyhow, it has attachments for doing furniture too. It has some powerful scrubbers on the bottom of it and I love how it cleans!
I have used them all, and by far, I'm most pleased with the Hoover Steam Vac. It has the spinning brushes and not the bar like the others do. It also has the option of having the upholstery attachments ready to go instead of needing to make adjustments to everything. Please watch cleaning your carpets so often--you could end up breaking down the fibers and voiding out the lifetime of the carpet.
We always clean our carpets ourselves. I don't like the rental machines or services because I don't want anybody else's dirt in my house.
Our first machine was a Hoover Steam Vac and it was a good one.
Our last 2 machines and current one is Bissell ProHeat. I LOVE this machine because it keeps the water hot.
We clean about once every 4 months or as needed.
We have the Hoover SpinScrub. Works well and is relatively easy. This is our second machine as our first one died after about 15 years. With kids and pets, I can't calculate how much money we have saved over the last 20+ years by cleaning our own carpets and furniture. Hoover is a good brand and Bissell is good too. You may want to check with Consumer Reports to see what their recommendations are. Happy Cleaning :)
Use a shaving cream, generic and a brush for tough stains.
I have the Hoover Steam Vac and love it!!
