I have a Vitamix and love it. It's a workhorse, I've even made soup in it, the speed of the blender heats it up. It's the brand most of the smoothie stores use. I've heard you can get good deals on them as Costco.
I need a good blender for making smoothies. I have a Cuisinart blender/food processer and it's pretty much useless when it comes to blending frozen fruit, ice, etc. Consumer reports listed the Ninja and L'Equip as some of the best. Anyone have either one of those or any other suggestions? I need something that will break down frozen items as well as some vegetables into a creamy, smoothie consistency.
Thanks!

Thanks for all the answers so far. Ninja owners--- do you have the 1100 watt or the 600? Thanks, again!

I'm in love with my Blendtec, it's never failed me and it was one of the best kitchen splurges I made:)
I would recommend a Vitamix or Blendtec. I have the Vitamix, but the Blendtec is very similar and just as good, from what I hear. They can do anything...well, relating to blenders anyway. They can't fly. ;)
I have an Oster and I make fruit smoothies in it with no problems.
i saved and saved and saved and got a blend-tec. so worth it. mine is actually wimpier than the promos led me to believe, but still a beast. i can't ever be without one now.

This is my blender and I think it is incredible. It is pricey, but it has lasted me 4 years so far, and it was a refurbished blender when I got it. Breville is an amazing company, so easy to work with. If there was ever a problem with it, their customer service is incredible.
I didn't pay the $200 for mine. Watch for coupons and watch deal sites, I got mine for $60.
I love this question. I got a Cuisinart last summer, and it does not do anything easy. You have to baby it along. I was having Ninja regret. I'll be reading your responses!!!
BLEND TEC It's made in the USA! Has a life time warranty, easy care, will blend anything, even your iPhone if you want it too;) Frozen fruit is blended into a smoothie very quickly and smoothly. I make soups, frozen drinks, baby food, sauces, dips.....
I went through blenders every few years, I bought my Blend Tec at CostoCo in 2008 and I've never had any problems with it because it still blends like it was brand new.
I have a Ninja and I love it. My seond choice would be the vita mix.
I use it to make my green smoothies and I use all frozen items.
I will absolutely swear by my Ninja :) It makes great smoothies and I even do shaved ice in it for the kiddos they love it. The Ninja will chop & crush ice like it's nothing. I do soups, salsas, smoothies & chop veggies...I have no complaints. HTH :)
I just bought myself a Ninja, but I haven't tried it yet. FYI, if you have a Costco membership, they are going for $95 right now. I think that deal expires on 4/1. After that, it will be $120. I wish I could justify the price of buying a Vitamix or a Blendtec. If my Ninja ends up collecting dust like my bread machine, I won't feel too guilty about an unused $95 appliance.
I just realized that the Ninja is manufactured by Shark. It is a horrible company to deal with if you have any problems with your product. Another good reason to buy it from Costco. You can trust their return policy. Good luck!
I have been making smoothies for over 2 years. I had a cuisinart, ninja, and finally gave up and got a Blendtec. BEST money ever spent. I can even put a carrot in my smoothie and you don't even know it is there!!! It even grinds up the seeds of a strawberry! Worth every penny.
