I am wondering if there is any other mom's out there that have had a pain on the outside of their belly that feels like it is bruised or sometimes like it was burnt, but there is no difference in that spot when it comes to appearance, it's only 1 spot that feels like this but it's on the outside, my baby has been checked and everything is fine???????

What can I do next?

My midwife told me that it's probably the baby's feet or some other body part hitting against the same area. A little trick she told me about was to put a bag of frozen vegetables in that area and the baby should eventually move away from it, at least for awhile, giving you some relief. Maybe that will help.

Yes, I remember this feeling. I think it was an internal bruise from the baby. It should go away soon. Maybe she's just very active- my daughter was up until the moment she came out.

Most likely just due to the stretching that is taking place inside. The bruised feeling sounds more muscular and the burned sensation is most likely skin stretching. I had a similar problem when I was pregnant and was particularly tender above my belly button but stretching happens everywhere so the pain can happen anywhere. If you baby is doing fine then try not to worry about it (easier said than done I know).
Gongrats on the new addition!

Have your doctor refer you to a specialist.
Have them check for pre clamp sia, pulled muscles, torn muscles, rips, baby on spinal cord and damage to it etc. etc.

If needed have hubby go and insist.

Keep your feet up till you give birth most of the time.

I suggest you keep your feet up so incase baby needs to turn it can safely and to help stop early deliver in case you have this chance.

Good luck D.

Ps have yours and babies fluids ,kidneys etc ck'dchecked and if dr oks it wear a back- belly support belt.

It could just be your skin stretching. I would just keep an eye on it and if it does not go away talk to your doctor again.

Yes I have this exact same pain! And always in the same spot. My midwife told me it was most likely from ligaments stretching and that the baby is fine.

I had a terribly sensitive spot when I was pregnant with my daughter (now 9 weeks old). Like other ladies commented, I really felt like it ought to be visibly bruised. But there was nothing to be seen. And when I checked with my OB at a visit, she mentioned that baby had a knee jabbed right into that spot. So I think it really was a sharp body part that repeatedly jabbed me in the same spot. It was really painful, and I didn't experience it with any of my earlier pregnancies. But it did go away eventually--at least by the time she was born! I hope you're feeling better and that you have a beautiful baby soon!

Yes! I also had this same problem when I was recently pregnant with my second child. My midwife told me it was my abdominal muscles separating to make room for my growing uterus.... I too was much bigger with my second pregnancy. The muscles stayed pretty sore until the very end of the pregnancy, and even afterwards. I was told to do sits ups to get the muscles back to their original position. It only took about 1 month after the delivery of my daughter and now I'm completely back to normal.

Tip: I used a warm water bottle in the evenings to ease the discomfort and aching feeling. Hope this helps. ;)

Both times that I was pregnant I had a SUPER sensitive belly. I did not want ANYTHING to touch it. I really could not wear any "tight" clothes or anything with a waistband (even if it was maternity). It just always felt like it hurt.

I have the same thing. My midwife told me that it's your skin and muscles stretching and there is probably a little internal bruising or tearing to your abdominal muscle in that area. She said nothing to worry about, but it won't get better until after the birth.

I'm not a doctor or anything, just a 50 year old mom who has had four boys, two of them over 8lb. When I was pregnant with one of them I had a similar experience, along with a lot of itchiness. I suggest finding a good creme that doesn't contain mineral oil or petrolatum that will keep your skin moisturized and supple. Skin looses its elasticity as we age, and when it is stretched so much and so fast during pregnance we can experience these symptoms like this. So we need to nourish it with somethig that will help it regenerate the elastin and collegen so that it can go back to it's natural state. I wish I had known about this when I was pregnant, but it's never too late, and I hope that I can help others throug my experience. At this point, the only creme I've found that doesn't have mineral oil or petroleum (petroletum)and will actually help your skin rejuvinate it's elastin and collegen is made by Arbonne. Look for a mom-owned business in the Momasource business directory for this company.
Good luck with your new baby! D. J.

yes!

with my second pregnancy i got a spot like that in my rib area. my son is now 18 and although its not painful really i can still tell exactly where it is.

i never had mine checked. i just figured there had been some extra kicking going on in that spot. but now that i think of it maybe there could be a weak muscle that was strained. i know pulled muscles and ligaments burn so maybe ask your dr about that.

good luck and congrats!

btw- i was smaller with my second so i dont think getting bigger is the only problem.

It's been a while since I've been pregnant (my kids are 4, 8, 9 and 12), but I do recall feeling that. I do not remember if it was w/one child or more. But I do recall that feeling. If it helps, nothing ever came of it. I had 4 average vaginal births. . .nothing eventful. All 4 are very healthy for the most part (some allergies etc. . .but nothing major), and I am very healthy as well.

Good luck! (and after looking at Dana's response. . .fyi. . I sell Arbonne and LOVE it! I'd be happy to help you if you so choose.)

My belly button HURT so badly around 6 months of pregancy. It turns out that I have an umbilical hernia and she was just pushing on it. My belly button looks different now, post pardum, but there isn't any pain anymore.

I had the same thing when I was pregnant with my 2nd. It was just below my ribs on my left side and it hurt so bad. I too asked the Dr about it and they thought maybe my daughter pused on it or kicked but I didn't think so. Only good thing.......it went away when I was put on bedrest at 20wks. Good luck; thank God it is all worth it.

I too have had this.... I have a bit of a different perspective though. I worked in a Chiropractic office for a few years and had women come in and complain of this. Sometimes it suspected to be internal bruising as the one woman pointed out, but other times is was a pinched nerve in the back due to the shift in weight. If you believe in Chiro or not, you may want to consider a visit to a chiropractor. The nerves in your back travel all over your body, so it is not uncommon to have pain or symptoms in an area away from your back due to a spinal nerve being pinched. I hope this helps.

Hi T.,

I had a similar feeling with my second child. For me it was diastasis recti, which is abdominal muscle separation, and it started when I was around 6 months along. It didn't happen at all with my first child, but then again I was HUGE the second time around. It got alot worse the bigger I got and mostly because I was always bending down tying my son's shoes or getting him dressed, etc. (he was about 2 years old at the time). It's not serious and it certainly didn't get worse during labour or anything, it was just uncomfortable. I wore what's called a Belly Bra, which is like a tight fitting pregancy cami; really comfortable; and I while I was sitting I would stretch the middle of my abs together (almost like closing the gap where my belly button was) and it really helped the discomfort of the muscles stretching out. This may be way too much information and you may not even have what I had, but it's something to thing about anyway. :)

Good luck and I hope you have a great remainder of your pregnancy! Enjoy!

My stomach did this on the left side under my breast when I was pregnant with my first child. It was totally numb and had a burning sensation. Even after I delivered, it stayed numb for several months. It's probably just muscles stretching. It seems to take forever for muscles to heal!!

I used to get pains in my sides. If I moved the wrong way, or if I just barely touched my side I would get this horrible pain. I asked my doctor about it and he said that it was just my muscles and things stretching. I don't know if that's the same kind of pain you have, but it could be just from everything getting stretched out. Couldn't hurt to ask your doctor at your next checkup. Good luck.

I absolutely do! Was concerned as I'm expecting twins- I feel that the spot should be black and blue when I look at it... but it's not- and it hurts like crazy! It's on my right side- and I seem to keep bumping it- it's also about the place where my 18 month-old son's knee lands when I'm carrying him. I was planning to mention it to my OB on my next visit- I asked my neighbor who has had 3 kids and she said she's had it before. I, too, was worried that I was doing harm to my baby- but I think they're pretty protected... I guess if ultrasound turns out ok, i wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!

This happened to me. (with 2 pregnancies) It is caused by a part of the baby that is jetting out and seriously stretching your skin. It actually bruises the inside tissue. During my 3rd pregnancy for the last month I could barely bend over because this "bruised" area was soooo sore.

Hang in there....
