Belly Button Ring and Pregnancy

Back in college I got a belly button ring (something I now regret doing), kept it in for awhile and then got tired of it and took it out. Years later I got pregnant and now two kids later I'm left with a small stretch mark on the skin just above my belly button. Bathing suit season is coming up and I feel like I could actually wear a 2-piece but don't like the appearance of this mark. My husband doesn't think it's a big deal but I notice it. Has anyone dealt with this and have a solution, I'm wondering if those creams that are supposed to reduce the appearance of scars might help.

What can I do next?

OH man! I want to know the answer to this too! My stretch mark is so deep there, it runs right through the hole where the piercing was and it makes the hole look really nasty. I've been wondering about this myself. I'll keep looking back here to see if anyone posts... ::fingers crossed::

Our daughter has a burn scar on her shoulder and we looked into some of those creams for scars, but they cost a lot and she didn't care about the scar enough to worry. Her bra strap and tank tops cover it and after a while she just wasn't bothered by it. So be prepared, it might be costly and you may find you have to use it for years to keep the scar from showing. Have you tried on any suits that have that strip of fabric from the bra top to the bottom and cover the spot? They make you look even shaplier and skinny too! or,,,,, get a tattoo on your stomach with an arrow pointing to it that says "regret #1"

Honey, if you have the body to wear a bikini, good for you!!! After having two kids, I am impressed! I kept my piercing in throughout both pregnancies, figuring a ring with a saggy belly looks better than a scar. Sorry, I don't have help for you, but I am so impressed you'll be sporting a two-piece!

I have the same thing going on and I don't think it looks too bad. If I had the body to wear a bikini I would and not worry about it.

I have the same thing but don't think it is any big deal -- even when sporting my bikinis. If you try the scar cream (I would suggest Mederma- use the CREAM, not the GEL), you need to be religious about rubbing it in SEVERAL minutes a day (the massage helps break down the scar tissue), 2 times a day. And, you need to wear sunblock religiously on the site or it will turn pink. My daughter split her forehead open and we had it fixed by a plastic surgeon. He had us rub that stuff on her head for 3 MONTHS, 2 times a day and be religious about sunscreen....the scar is there but barely visible and not really visible at all in photos (she had to be put under sedation because she was 2 years old, the area irrigated and then got 7 stitches - scar is about an inch and a half long). Good luck! I am not bothering with that myself -- I have too much else to do and can't even remember to lotion my legs (when wearing a skirt nonetheless) let alone rub scar cream in a few times a day for a few months :)
