Hi moms! I am preggo with my second! I am way excited however, I feel sick all the time not to mention the bloated, over eating feeling 24/7. I am not ready for maternity clothes yet but am wondering if anyone has used the Bella band or something like that. It is an elastic piece which goes around your waste to let you stay in your jeans longer. You can unbutton and unzip to be comfy. I am not 100% sure on these and before I spend the money, I wanted to get some opinions.

Thank you very much!

Thanks,
J.

I got the one from target and it was much less expensive than the motherhood brand, and i still use it sometimes under the jeans to suck in whats still left over after having my baby. It works great but get it a size smaller because it stretches out after a while. Good luck and Congrats.

I used a Bella Band for 2 pregnancies and liked it a lot. It makes your non-maternity pants last a lot longer. Well worth it! Congrats!

I loved mine! They are pricey, but worth the investment b/c I used them post-partum as well. Not only do they allow you to expand your pants, but it covers the belly with shirts too!

Well my question to you is how big do you get when you are pregnant? I am a small woman only 108 pounds when I'm not prego and I don't get very big while pregnant. (could still hide my tummy if i wanted to at 7 months) So the bella band didn't work for me. It was just too big. I would fold it over in order to double it and make it tighter but my pants still just fell down and it wouldn't stay in place. It finally worked when I was 9 months pregnant but by then maternity pants fit fine too. It was nice that I could still wear my regular pants at 9 months but that was only for a few weeks cause then I had the baby. So I thought it was a waste of money but again I think it wasn't the product that was bad but more my body.

I loved it! I am a plus size woman and I only gained about 20 lbs while pregnant. I wore the bella band with my regular work pants and jeans until I was 7 moths pregnant. After that - I just wore skirts - they were more comfy. I also used the Motherhood brand and found it to be very nice. One suggestion is to buy it a bit snug becuase it stretches out. Congrats on baby #2!!

I had something like that and thought it was awful (personally). I would position it just right, and it would slip up when I bent down while my pants would slip down. I was constantly adjusting it and getting really frustrated.

Personally, I didn't wear a lot of maternity clothes during both pregnancies. I found that forgiving elastic waisted pants (NY & Company is a good place to find dressier ones) and sweats were great. Sure, I had maternity jeans, but I just pushed my regular clothes to the limit as much as possible.

Another thing I couldn't bring myself to wear: maternity underwear. I just bought bigger ones and was fine both times around.

Good luck!

I had something like that. It didn't work to stay in my pants longer (they would still be uncomfy and fall off my but when unzipped) but it was great to get more use out of my regular shirts. If you have a sewing machine, you can easily make your own!

I LOVEDDDDD my Belly Band! I would highly recommend it :) It was great because I was able to wear all of my old pants that fit perfect around my backside and just use maternity tops.

Hope you enjoy yours as much as I did mine! :)

oh i had the knock off from motherhood maternity and loved it! I wore all my own pants up to the day i gave birth. i bought only a few pants to wear just because i wanted to buy maternity clothes (ha ha). i think i paid 20 dollars or so for it and i used it after i had my baby also. it helped with the c section scar...it just felt better to have that extra support in that area for a while.

I loved mine, and recently saw Target selling a much cheaper version. You can mix the bella band with the old hair-tie looped around the pants button trick, too.

Yes, get one! It was good to layer it with a shirt at the end of pregnancy when even my maternity shirts wouldn't cover my belly. It is also fantastic post-pregnancy and with nursing. I wore one under shirts so that when I pulled my shirt up to nurse, I wasn't exposing all the skin on my waist (good for public nursing or at night when it's cold). It didn't help me too much with the jeans b/c it would sometimes roll up/down.

Some brands are more stretchy elastic than others. I had a friend give me her Bella brand and it was tight, but the one from Motherhood Maternity was a looser elastic. So depending on the size and your size it may or may not fit the way you want it to. You can probably try them on at Motherhood before you buy.
