I would agree that an earlier bedtime might be needed. My nine month old naps similarly to yours (~1 hr in the morning; 2 in the afternoon), but she goes to be between 7 and 7:30.
Just wondering what time my 9 month old should be going to bed. He is still on two naps. The first is in the AM and usually starts around 9:30-10:30am and lasts for 1-2 hours. The second is in the PM and usually starts between 2-3pm and is for an hour. He then has been going to bed around 8-9pm and sleeps until about 6:30am.
Tonight, for the first time, he had a meltdown at bedtime and cried for almost an hour. I went in a couple of times to comfort him, and then finally he is out. I think we are at the time when an earlier bedtime should be starting.....any advice?

My 9 mo. old naps about the same as yours, but goes to bed at 7:30, and sleeps until 6:30 or 7 AM. But, babies are all different! You can try putting him down 30 minutes earlier and see what happens.
I think your night time bedtime is too late, especially if your baby is up at 3:00pm after his 2d nap. I would shoot for a bedtime of 8:00 at the latest (so start the process at 7:30). Remember: the more they sleep the more they sleep! One other piece of advice: sometimes there are these bumps in the road where your baby does something new. That may just be a little bump and then things return to "normal". Or it may be the beginning of a new phase. So give it a few days before you decide to change your schedule. Good luck and enjoy that baby!
My nine month old is usually asleep by 7:30 with 2 (long) or 3 (short) naps during the day. I start my bedtime routine at around 7ish.
Hi C.. My daughter is also 9 months old and she goes to sleep between 7-8:30 every night. But she does not nap nearly as well as your son does. I'm lucky if I get 1 1/2hrs of napping all day long and that ususally 3 small 30min naps. If he naps so well during the day but is starting to have meltdowns before bed time I would start by moving his bed time up just 15mins each night until the meltdowns stop. I wouldn't move it up too much to start because I'm sure you don't want the little guy waking up at 5:30 each morning. I know I wouldn't :). They say the better they nap during the day the better they sleep at night so maybe you just got a good sleeper on your hands :) Lucky you. Good Luck, let us know how it goes.
