I have twin boys that are 10 years old ( they look 12 ). They are still wetting the bed every night. I have tried waking them up during the night, stopping their fluids early, and many other things to no gain. They have both had surgery to try to fix this problem, but their bladders are the size of a 2 year olds. Can anyone give me knew ideas to try? They are more tired of it than I am. They won't spend the night with anyone but family and does not like to have anyone over to spend the night with them either. help!! Thanks

What can I do next?

My sister had this problem and my mom gave her some homeopathic pills you put under your tongue and they disolve, from sunharvest (im sure you can get them at any store like that). They helped her alot, when my mom could afford them (im not sure how much they cost we were on a pretty tight budget back then) if you want the name of it let me know i will call my mom and see if she remembers the name of it (its been about 6 or so years).

Try cutting them off of wheat and sugar. My husband, who is 27, has the same problem, it's called primary nocturnal enuresis, and this worked for him. See if they have any food allergies or any allergies of any kind as these can aggravate the problem as can illnesses.

Nocturnal enuresis a chronic bed-wetting disorder that can last years and it's quite common.

This is the website for a clinic that can help if nothing else does: http://www.drybed.com/index.html

They have had amazing success with treatment of people of all ages. If changing his diet didn't do the trick, we were going to contact them next.

I have not heard good things about limiting fluids or bed alarms.

It has also been found to be something passed genetically, so I would check in the family if anyone else has ever had this problem.

My son is only 3 and so I have yet to discover if this is an issue for him as well, but I am definitely going to keep an eye out.

Good luck with everything.

I don't know if this would work, but they have bedwetting monitors that you place in the child's underwear. At the first moment of wetness it detects, an alarm sounds.
I don't know anything more about this.. I'd look into it if you haven't already. I'd just google it and see. Hopefully it won't electrocute you if you have a full-fledged pee!

My pediatrician recommended www.bedwettingstore.com

They have alarms and books and sheet protectors and lots of good facts and advice. The alarms are very expensive, but I'm gonna have to buy one too!

Good luck,

Does their urologist know the problem hasn't been fixed? Maybe the surgery was unsuccessful or something. I wish I knew what to say, but checking more into it with their dr is all I would know to do. Good Luck!

From what I have read, surgery to enlarge a childs bladder should show positive results (although they may be slow coming) within three months of surgery. I don't know when your children had the surgery, but I find it odd that both children show no improvement. I would think at least one of them would, so if it were me, I would separate them if they sleep in the same bed, or even the same room. One child may be covering for the other and may feel that because they are twins that they need to exhibit the same problems. By separating them and monitoring them, you can get a better grasp of the situation. If both children truley are exhibiting the same problems and they had the same surgery, I would find another doctor. It is understandable for a doctor to botch one surgery (out of the thousands performed), but to botch two is a sign of an inexperienced surgeon.
I hope this helped.

Hi B.,

I too have a son that still has a bedwetting problem. Our family pediatrician was able to prescribe a nasalspray. The name of this spray is Desmopressin. It also comes in a pill form.

Good luck,

R.
