Do you have any favorite bean recipes you would care to share? They don't have to be vegetarian or side dishes only. I saw an interesting recipe for bean bread online, which I might try. I am open to stews, salads, mains, caseroles, dips, appetizers, pasta dishes, soups, even desserts (if such a thing exists).

I've got a white chili recipe that's a favorite around my house:
Creamy White Chili Recipe – (My Version)
Ingredients
• 1 pound ground chicken
• 1 pound ground turkey
• 2 medium onions, chopped
• 1 tablespoon garlic powder
• 2 tablespoon olive oil
• 2 cans (15-1/2 ounces each) great northern beans with fluid
• 2 cans hominy rinsed drained
• 1 cans (14-1/2 ounces) chicken broth
• ½ to 1 whole large block of pepper jack cheese cubed
• 2 teaspoon salt
• 2 teaspoon ground cumin
• 2 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1 teaspoon pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• 2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream
• 1 cup heavy whipping cream or half n half
Directions
• In a large saucepan, sauté the chicken and turkey, onion and garlic powder in oil until meat is no longer pink. Add the beans, broth, and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
• On simmer; stir in sour cream, pepper jack cheese and cream.
This is a great question. I will be watching answers for new ideas!
What I make is:
-refried bean tostadas
-bean soup (just soak the beans overnight, stick them in water in a crock
pot or on the stove. Cook for a few hours.)
-my sister makes homemade huumus
-she, also, makes stews & throws in beans for added protein
-I put garbanzo beans in our salads
-I make a taco salad w/ground turkey & add a drained can of kidney beans
I've been buying black beans in bulk, so have been scouring Pinterest for good recipes. My 3 favorites are:
By far my #1: Sweet potato skins (these things are awesome tasty, and healthy! I make a bunch, and eat the leftovers cold from the fridge. Yum.)

#2: Black bean stuff. (I'm not sure what the actual name is...)
Ingredients:
1/2 lb ground beef (or turkey)
1 onion (diced)
1 red pepper (diced)
2 jalapeños (seeded and diced)
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp red pepper
5 cloves minced garlic
2/3 cup chicken broth
2 cans of black beans
2 tomatoes (seeded and diced)
1/4 lb (or so...)bacon (cooked and crumbled)
1/2 cup (to taste) shredded cheese. (I like a fiesta/Mexican blend)
Process:
Heat oven to 425
Grease 8x8 baking pan
-Brown the ground beef with about 1/2 if the onions, drain, and set aside.
-sauté the rest of the onions, red and jalepeno peppers for 4 minutes.
-add the seasonings and garlic, then sauté for another minute.
-add the broth and beans to the peppers, boil for 5 minutes.
-mash bean mixture to desired consistency (I like mine mostly lumpy.) then put into the greased pan.
-top with beef, then tomatoes, bacon, and cheese.
-bake until the cheese is nice and melty. (Mine usually takes 10-30 minutes... My oven isn't too consistent. Lol.)
-let rest for around 5 minutes before serving.
I LOVE eating this with tortilla chips. :)
And #3, which is a huge hit with my 4yo dd: black bean chili.

It is especially good if you make some tortilla bowls to serve it in... I use corn tortillas, grease both sides with olive oil, then use the bottom of my cupcake tin as a mold to bake them. (400 for around 10-15 minutes.)
I cook a lot of bean dishes, since I'm not a meat person. One of my favorites is a mixed bean stew from the old Laurel's Kitchen (vegetarian classic). It has 1/2 cup each of dry black beans, pinto beans, and kidney beans) and 1/4 cup each of mung beans and green split peas [total 2 cups dry beans]. Rinse them well and cook in the slow cooker with lots of water (at least 4 cups initially) at the low setting for about 4 hours until they are reasonably soft (try to avoid mushy). I then season them by cooking them on the stove with chopped onions, crushed garlic, maybe some chopped celery and/or carrots, some chopped tomatoes, ground cumin, chili powder, dried basil, thyme, and oregano. Add salt and pepper to taste also; if you all like spicy food, some habanero pepper or dried chili peppers would be great. The amounts and types of seasonings are up to you. I usually use one medium sized onion for this amount of bean stew and a couple cloves of garlic, a couple stalks celery and/or carrots, a couple tomatoes, and probably a teaspoon each of the cumin, chili powder, basil, and salt initially. Feel free to vary as you wish!
We serve it over millet or quinoa or rice, and the mix goes really well into burritos or over tortilla chips with cheese for nachos.

Black Bean Salad (or chunky salsa):
2 small cans Black Beans, rinsed and drained
1 can whole kernel corn, drained
1/2 large red onion OR sweet onion (not a huge raw onion fan, so I just add some dehydrated onion to taste)
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1 large tomato, seeded and chopped (I usually use Cherubs cut in quarters, seeds in)
2 Tablespoons lime juice
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar (I've used white wine or balsamic vinegar too)
Salt and pepper to taste.
My kids and I often eat this as a meal. It's super easy and so yummy!
Here's one of our favorites:
One jar of salsa
Two cans hominy, rinsed
Two cans red beans, rinsed (or you can use dry if you soak them)
32 oz chicken broth
1tsp oregano
1/2 cup half and half, cream or milk
2T flour
Put the salsa, beans, broth, oregano and hominy in a slow cooker and cook on low 6 hours. Mix flour with milk. Add to slow cooker. Mix well. Allow to cook 30 minutes. Top with scallions and shredded cheese if desired.
Of course you can make this on the stove top too but slow cooker makes it so easy.
I love the refried beans recipe from all recipes that you do in the crock pot. My favorite summer bean dish is test kitchen southwest bean salad.

I usually use dried beans instead of canned... I cook up a couple lbs of black beans at one time and freeze them in freezer bags in ~ 2 cup amounts. (I get about 6 cups of cooked black beans from 1 lb of dried black beans... no added sodium or slimy stuff!)
This is like a bean stew, so delicious.
1 pound ground turkey
1 cup salsa
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup corn (can or frozen)
2 14 oz cans any beans drained (northern is what i use)
1 can drained black beans
In large pot brown turkey then add all ingredients; i also add cilantro. I like to eat this with rice and add some sour cream and cheese.
