I will be flying to Puerto Rico in 2 weeks with husband and baby (for a conference). I am looking for a beach tent/cabana that my husband to be able to set up easily with 9 month old in tow, ideally one with SPF protection. Does anyone have suggestions for a quality tent that travels well? Also, any advice for traveling with toddler would be appreciated!

What can I do next?

I got the Sun Stop'r Kwik Cabana. The fabric blocks 97% of sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays, and is SPF 50+.

It's great. Has it's own little carrying pouch. Once you get it up the first time it's easy as pie. They have different sizes too.

Oh for travelling - bring a bag with LOTS of different activities. Books, toys, games etc. Mix new stuff they have never seen with old to keep interest keen. The more the better (within reason), you never know when you may be delayed - take it from one who knows.

Good Luck & Have a great trip!

Hi K., My piece of advice is to be very careful with the tent and choose one that has a netted window for cross ventilation. These tents get very hot inside causing the baby's to overheat quickly. Please the window carefully so that the breeze is blowing through it to keep the air moving inside the tent. Best Wishes. E. Taft ____@____.com

There's a great one at one steap ahead but I am not sure it is on the market yet....you could check.

I have a peapod travel bed that rocks, it literally pops up and is ready to go, has a bit of a plastic-y smell so air it out before the baby goes in. It is a bed/tent and has zippered panels on both sides.

good luck, nat

Hi K.,
One Step Ahead makes a great pop-up tent/cabana that folds up into little bag for storage. I think it would fit in your luggage, but would add a few extra pounds.

When our son was 10-months old we flew cross country to CA.
The key was distraction. Fill a carry-on with little books, toys, and snacks--the more the better. And have a pacifier or drink handy for take-off and landing to help them with ear pressure.

Good Luck!

Hi K.,
Sounds like fun! I was in Mexico last Oct. and the resort had a lot of extras for us parents. I would recommend calling the hotel/resort you will be staying at and asking if they have anything already in place for babies. Traveling is tough enough let alone trying to travel with a tent, luggage, baby etc. If they do have something it takes that off your list, if they don't ask if they have anyone in the surrounding area that rents out tents that you can use then return. Good luck and have fun!
