anybody have any good ideas for the above? looking to invite 3-4 of his friends and need something different other than gameworks type places, mini golf, lazer tag, go karts, etc. any input would be much appreciated.

I'm also a baseball mom from Oak Park.
For my son's 13th b-day I took him and some friends to the Holidome in Itasca
for the night.
They have an indoor pool, small game room and a foosball table tennis table and pool table in the lobby for the kids to use.
The kids had a great time and my son loved it

What does your son like to do? If it's something sports related how about tickets to a baseball game or whatever sport he is into. Build around whatever your son's hobbies or interests are. Let him pick out the restaurant. Tickets to a movie they may like to see and dinner out. Just some suggestions.
Depending on how you feel about guns and how far you are willing to travel ....My sister just had a paintball party for my 11 year old nephew and his friends loved it. They had so much fun. I know they went to the one in St. Charles and there is one in Gurnee. If you look up Paintball in IL on google they both come up.
A frind of mine wanted the same for his kid (turning 13 too) he took him and his friends to a hotel in Wisconsin that has an inside water park, they spent the night and had a great time.
How about a Cubs game?
The Putting Edge is a fun idea.......it is mini golf indoors and under black lights, kids love it there.
