Bathtub Cleanser That Won't Harm Toddler's Skin?

We have recently moved our dd from the kichen sink to the "big" tub. I initally gave it a good old-fashioned scrubbing then used my water-pressure-steamer thingy to remove the chemicals. This process took over a half an hour.

It occured to me the other night that my husband has athlete's foot, and that my dd has been sitting where he stands in the tub. Ugh...yucky...I'm worried about getting all of the germs and bacteria off the tub floor, but do not want to use chemicals that will leave a harmful residue. It's almost like human petrie dish vs. harmful burning chemicals...see my dilema? Does anyone have a good product or process that will get rid of the germs but not take a layer off my poor dd's skin?
Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hey Suz!
Don't know if you've looked into this or not, but a woman I know uses (and swears by) the Melaleuca products. She actually gave me a bottle of the sol-u-mel 3 in one cleanser to try. I really liked it for mopping the floor, etc. It is all natural, eco friendly and smelled very good. It is the only product by them that I have used, but it might be a good place to start.

Clorox now makes a line of natural cleaners. I've used the window cleaner and all purpose cleaner. I like them. I think they have a bathroom cleaner as well. I did't check to see how old your daughter is, but have you considered a baby bathtub? I used to put ours inside the tub and the kids never touched the tub surface.

We switched to microfiber cloths and Method, Mrs. Myers, or Clorox Green Works cleaners. But most of the time just using the microfiber cloths keeps things clean.

That having been said, I'm not very obsessive about keeping the bathtub floor clean now. I would work on getting your husband's feet treated (even low level infections like that are hard on his body) and once it's cleared up, give the tub a quick clean once a week and don't worry about it.

HI S.! The answer your looking for is really simple...good old fashioned hot water and soap! Forget all the chemicals, forget all the "sanitizers" they really are not nessassary for home use. Nothing can replace a good soap and hot water for proper cleaning! The chemical companies have been spending years turning us all into "germaphobes" to fatten their walets...the simple fact of the matter is that a certian amount of germs are needed to be healthy and that items like hand sanitizers are only needed when hot water and soap are not available! The best part of using soap and water to clean is that it normally doesn't leave resude, it's much cheaper, and actually more effective than people seem to realize anymore. Best wishes!

I've always used comet cleanser or bleach with a good rinse.

Hey S.-Q!
I, too, like Method products.
Get hubby's feet taken care of.
TRY not to be too germ-o-phobic. (But I must admit, I'm the same!)
When my son was little I always used something in the tub for him to sit/lie on.
Those spongy yellow foam things shaped like a bear. About 3 bucks at Target. They can be rinsed out & let air dry, but will need to be replaced every month or 2. Also, I had an inflatable tub that I would put IN the tub.......just a couple of ideas.
Good luck!
