for the last month or so my bathtub is draing really slow, does anyone know a good product or household hint to clean the gunk and I'm sure hair in it? I would really like to do it today, I'm in the mood to clean lol!!

Hi L.! Sprinkle a bunch of baking soda on your drain and pour a liberal amount of vinegar on top. It will bubble and foam it's way down your drain and clean it out!
What I found is GREAT. I get it from Menards and I don't remember the name, but it is sold in a heavy plastic bag and the bottle is black. There are two different sizes available. This product needs to stay in the bag. (very very strong and caustic!!!) I have used this in both my bathroom and kitchen. When I do use this, I always put a pot cover over the drain just to remind everyone to stay away and just incase there might by any bubbling coming up. I have tried Draino and never tuched by clogged drains.

baking soda and vinegar
Use the Zip it. It is a plastic strip with hooks onit that catched the hair/gunk & you pull it out. No chemicals, cheap & you can reuse it.
I use the drano gel it works well.
dump in and leave for awhile later come back and run
hot water down drain. If still draining slow repeat
I keep it in the house all the time.
Awesome stuff can buy @ home depot comes in a black jug with a plastic ziplock bag around it we use it about once a year in all our drains works like magic I love it but don't know name of it you will know when you see it in the drain cleaning aisle I have only found it @ home depot though worth the drive!!! We have 3 girls living in our house with long hair and a dog with extra hair awesome stuff!!!
Mine was barely draining the other day and I didn't have anything to pour down it so I took the plunger to it a few times and just like magic it drained quickly and has been draining great ever since. Try it while there is water in the tub.
Liquid Plumber and Drano work really well if you follow the instructions on the container. Good luck!
I use a plunger and plunge away at it. This loosens the junk for me so it can be removed. This way I don't need to use harsh chemicals.
I don't like to use the caustic and chemical stuff, so I use 1/2 cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar. I let it sit for 15-30 minutes, then I dump 4 cups of HOT water down. Often I try to manually get some of the gunk out first. Works like a charm! Good luck!
My husband uses an unbent wire hanger and shoves it down the drain to scoop out the nasty hair/soap/gunk residue. He keeps an ice cream bucket close and just puts the gunk into it right away.
Give the good old toilet plunger a try.Works for me!
We recently had the same issue happen at our house. The drain top use to be able to be unscrewed but is broke. My husband bought a stick type thing from menards and that worked great. It is about 2 feet long, white in color, very bendable and it has hooks all along the sides of it to which will pull the hair and such stuff up. All you do is push it down the drain and it goes in a circular motion. Once it is all the way down you pull it up and it brings up all the clogged stuff.

If you can unscrew the shield off the drain it is good to stick something down there to get out some of the hair and gunk. You'd be amazed how much accumulates. Then I would do the baking soda vinegar thing. If you can't take it off, you might have to use a harsh chemical cleaner like Liquid Plumber etc., and then to keep it clean do the baking soda vinegar thing every once in a while.
I would agree with the Zip it. My husband used it on our very slow drain and it works like new again. It's only around 4.00 for 2 and they're reusable. We liked it because it actually got the hair out and there aren't any smells like there is with drain cleaner.
We use Drano Liquid Plumber on our slow draining tub and sink. Ours is from hair too...usually have to use the Drano once a year.
You could try good ol' fashioned baking soda and vinegar. I've tried it before, and it works, but I'm not sure how far down your clog is. I just poured a bunch of baking soda down the drain then kept dumping vinegar in with it until I thought all the baking soda was gone. If that doesn't work-- just get some Liquid Plumber.
I do the baking soda and vinegar thing too, but I heat the vinegar first. To keep the drain in good working order, do this at least twice a month. I also like the zip too that another poster suggested. I will have to get one of those.
We really like Professional Strength Drano Max GEL. It's in a red bottle. We have found the gel consistency to work really well on tough clogs. We have used it in both our sinks and shower. I have longer curly hair and it gets even that pushed through.

have you tried using a plunger? Have enough water in the tub to cover at least half of the plunger . The water will be really nasty, but this usually works and no chemicals needed,
