My child loves the bath, however hates to get dressed. She screams to get her clothes on and diaper. Do anyone have any suggestions?? We were doing dinner, bath and bottle. But, she screams so that she can't settle for bed some nights. Any ideas would be great.

What can I do next?

Dear Alison,

This is very normal, most babies hate getting out of the bath. I think because it is so cold when they get out. Are you bathing her in the bathtub or sink? Make sure the bathroom is nice and warm. I used to make sure I kept my kids partially covered with the towel. Another words not completely naked and do the t-shirt first while her bottom was wrapped and then remove the towel and put the diaper on. Most babies hate to be naked. However when they get older they love to run around naked after a bath. Maybe it has something to do with them liking to be swaddled they don't like that feeling of being free just yet. I would try keeping her partially covered to keep warm. I have even gone so far as to take a fresh towel out of the dryer so it was nice and warm (crazy ha!!)sometimes we do what ever works. Good luck with your new baby. One more trick if you apply cream after a bath put the bottle of cream into the bath so the cream gets nice and warm cold when you put it on.

My daughter is similar, and fusses when I out her pj's on after her bath. I try to make it fast, and I sing some calming songs while I do it. I also give her a small toy to hold and keep her occupied and keep her hands busy. Good luck

My daughter 3 and still does that. I try to make it as fun as possible when she gets out. My daughter is so hipe at nights, bedtime routine or not horrible. I take her out the bath and I keep her in her robe for alittle. Believe it or not she comes to me and says" Mommy can I get dressed" and it goes smoothly after that. I didn't know how old your daughter is but I think all kids do that. I agree with the below comment about singing. I really didn't do calm songs but we would do fun kids songs and she would stay.....lol Good Luck

large stickers work like a charm. Just get some really fun ones and stick them on your baby's hands or arms and they stay entertained. Just make sure you watch because my daughter sometimes likes to put the sticker in her mouth. good luck.

I usually give my daughter a toy to play with while I change her and I sing "little rabbit foo foo" and I bop her on the nose and blow on her belly and do silly things during the song to keep her happy while dressing her.
